Well, with the stupidity level of those who just want the game to go ahead, I thought it fit

Mate it's a CAT 2 cyclone and you're acting like it's Hurricane Katrina. Relax yeah.

For anyone who knows their stuff it's basically higher than normal winds and at worst minor damage to trees and shrubbery. No homes or cars are going to be flying away and no windows will be broken. The hyperbole and fearmongering in regards to this (obviously driven by news media) is unbelievable.

People either evacuate to a hotel somewhere or they hunker down for a few hours. It's not like Russia is advancing. Far out.

Katrina was a category 3 (albeit high end) when it hit land. This is Cat 2 with a slight possibility of being a low-end Cat 3. So yes, there's a bit of mayo here but it's not insignificant either.

Prudence and preparation (but not outright panic) seem on point for me.

I think some serious perspective is needed by a few here.

It's not fair, and it's unfortunate that we're one of the teams involved but that's life. There's a natural disaster on the way and people here are crying "the AFL have ****ed us!!"

Grow up.

The logical move is to make the decision that impacts the fewest people and with minimal logistical issues. Currently, two teams are impacted (well four, but there is an obvious simple solution for Brisbane and Geelong). That's pretty ideal.

If we need to play in the pre-finals bye then so be it.

Why don’t you play GC in Round 14 and move our game to Round 16?
Play it on the Sunday and you’ve got a 10 day break which is essentially a bye anyway.
Saints bye is 11.

Kneejerk reaction to a category 2 cyclone that isn't even that dangerous and would likely last a few hours before it passes said area. Could've easily still played it after the weekend and rescheduled our Hawks match to a little later.

Anyway looks like we'll be playing a game behind the rest of the comp all year.
