Nick Daicos is one of if not the best player in the competition

But there is a (lazy) media narrative going around that he is one of the best sprinters (in terms of km) in the game

Do they forget you can see his GPS numbers on the AFL app? Craig Macrae has done a great job conning re his GPS numbers about how he is always off the charts

Only twice in 2024 was Nick been in the top 5 for total km/high speed km covered in a game. And it was a low 2.1km of high speed running. The other to his credit was an impressive 14.1km total distance v Geelong in a back and forth game

(Whilst only three times making it to the top 5 of "sprints per game" two of which was with a 3 in where normally you need 5 to make it to the top 4+)

He simply isn't in the top half a dozen sprinters/endurance runners at Collingwood let alone the AFL.

Disappointing again the the media has forgotten the classic Dr House quote
Everybody lies

Collingwood premiership star Brayden Maynard was in a car accident on Thursday morning, and while all involved are OK, it has been described as ‘a scary moment’. According to Nine’s Tom Morris, Maynard’s car collided with a ute in Brighton, with both vehicles ‘banged up’ as a result.
The 28-year-old is expected to train on Friday before being available to play on Saturday night against Port Adelaide at the MCG.

Maynard claims that he was unable to change direction as he was in the air, and impact was therefore inevitable*

It's his smart running where he has the edge... You'll notice that he'll jog when others are walking, combine that with his elite reading of the play and suddenly he's got 5 metres on his opponent out of nowhere. He's incredibly damaging in that way. Might not get the raw running numbers but he does have the endurance to be able to run when others don't.

Edit: I jumped in without context. Yeah, the high speed running excuse is balls.

"Yeah this helps my point about numbers, oh there's an edit"

That bench makes me worry Berry will debut as sub, which I hate.

But it does look heavy on defenders and that'd make the starting 22 short on forwards, so maybe it's Sinn. Unless Burton is playing as the third tall-ish forward.
