Mostly really good, especially forward of the ball. Loved Rachele's game and that now feels like a baseline Thilthorpe game (he dropped a few he could have taken). Reckon the significance of us putting up a big score without a big contribution from Tex is quite important.

A bit loose in defensive transition and I think we allowed a few too many damaging stoppage exits. Didn't love that we gave up 20+ shots. Hopefully we can tighten that up a little. Sid good and I think the fact he had so many CBAs means starting him as sub was probably the right call. Good to blow off some rust against an undermanned but fairly game Saints side at home.

Hard to take too much from the game given the Saints made Port look like premiership contenders and Finlayson a potential All Australian half back.

Having said that we did what we had to but we got away with a lot of fumbles and miss kicks. Good performance overall.

Curtin 7 possessions in a game where we flogged the opposition is a worry.

He good when he had it, I’m not worried yet. Still very early days and he’s an awkward fit for our current no-injuries side, so I’m happy to shoehorn him in and get experience into him.

Mate I thought you said you weren’t watching the first half in the match day thread?

Seems a little negative post. Milera was fine, no way was he terrible

If you're in the side due to speed, carry and elite use by foot, then he was beyond terrible. We get more of what he provided from either Bond or Nank and with a much greater future benefit.

Curtin was OK, he just needs a good run in the team. It would be hard not knowing if you are supposed to be a forward, a defender, a wing or a swing man. He is a young kid with big expectations on him and a history of a coach dragging him and not getting games into him in his first year.
Give him a go and he will eventually have a breakout game which will do his confience the world of good.

What gets me is people say to play the young talent and then don’t actually let them develop and can’t put up with quiet games

This is the exact guy just to keep playing , you can already see the signs and just need to allow them to come to fruition

It’s fine if he is sub next week but keep him in 23 for as long as possible and I’m sure he will get better and better

Is it the same people saying play the young talent AND questioning his performance though? Maybe those questioning him are the ones that support constant selection of out of form or injured senior players.

He was close

He’d be unreal with us

I disagree. I wouldn't have anyone from Saints in the top 10, let alone top 3, from that game. Which is reflected in the scoreline, this is a game that Adelaide gave them a good, old fashioned, belting.

I found NWM to have got a lot of ball, but was for the most part stifled against Adelaide's zonal defense/pressure. 27 disposals (21 kicks) going at 42.9 KE%, and 6 turnovers is not a great game from a half back flanker. Us rendering him ineffective with the ball in hand was a key part why it ended up a 10 goal game.

He probably would be, but that wasn't the game that showcased it.

Has Murray Davis in his role made a difference. It seems strange a club would need a Coaching Director. I thought that was the senior coach's role.
To me it suggests the board does not have complete faith in Nicks.
