General Admission and the MCG

Heading over with a group of 5 for the game against Essendon this weekend. In the past, we have tended to buy the more expensive seated tickets through AFL Members Guest Passes and sat around centre wing in the AFL Members area. Just wondering if anyone has bought general admission and what the areas were like where you could sit in, how long before the game you should arrive etc. Any advice would be appreciated.

Generally when I've gone GA, I sit in level 4 of the Olympic Stand. If you get a seat towards the front it has a really good view IMO.

The Olympic Stand is the pocket next to the MCC

It depends on the club as to how filled up it gets, especially if it's two Vic clubs. But Crows vs Essendon it shouldn't be too bad, though I'd still recommend getting there early so you aren't up in the nosebleeds if all five want to sit next to each other

The other options for GA are usually in the 4th level of the Ponsford and Shane Warne stands - so high up behind the goals, and the opposite pocket to the Olympic. Sometimes there will be level 1 seating near the goals as well. I prefer the Olympic to the Shane Warne stand just because of the shade you get in the afternoon, the Shane Warne tends to face into the sun

Ditto on The Olympic Stand. We went over for a Collingwood match a few years ago. No issues getting good viewing seats on level 2.

Thinking of going for the first time in a while with all the optimism around the club. Sadly missed out on the $89 reserved level 2 front row wing tickets. Will they open a level 1 bay for general admission? What is the estimated crowd for Saturday?

It’s highly likely there will be a swag of quality seating released either later today or tomorrow, these are EFC reserved seat holders returning their seats for resale. Should be in good areas on all levels in Olympic / Warne Stands. Note, it’s an EFC members section so be mindful if you want to sit with Crows fans.

Beyond this, Essendon sent below bulletin (below a section of it) indicating GA in the day will be only level 4.

I’d guess the attendance will be somewhere in the 42-46k range. Could be slightly ai e ir below though. Thus, you should find good seating on level 4 in the GA. Or, keep checking ticketek for newly released reserved seating.

Really appreciate all the info and your efforts. Going to aim for M35-36. Lower tier hopefully in the shade. Probably will get there an hour early.

I've never been one to stress too much about what seats I get - but if you don't mind level 4, for a Crows game at the MCG you should pretty much get to pick wherever you want up there
