Nah, he's poor down forward.

Was patchy at Adelaide, he was 3rd fiddle to Curnow & McKay multiple times and still couldn't fire a shot.

3rd tall fwd requites a reasonable footy IQ - have to be content with unrewarded running, being ignored, creating space behind you etc. Gov is not good at any of that.

They played together 8 times in the forward line (2 of those games curnow/gov got subbed out so 6 full games when we were a bottom 2 side). He was such a "poor" forward that's why Adelaide give him a contract extension at about approx 650k a year at the age of 22, ranking elite in the competition for average goal assists. He was injured throughout all of 2015 which was his 1st year. The next year he kicked 30+ goals. Compare that to kemp's 2nd year of footy where he played 2 games at the end of 2021. You can criticise him all you want for his career at carlton, but to try and disrespect his work at Adelaide is outrageous.

Playing Cripps injured has worked so well for us in the past....

We all know the drill for team selection.

Out: Young players
In: Experienced conditional players.

He needs to go back to the VFL and learn how to:

1. Punch a ball and kill a contest
2. Put his body on the line and go when it’s his turn.
3. Defend 1 v 1 - body contact is allowed.
4. Hold his feet to contest a 2nd time
5. Win the ground ball by putting your head over it
6. Composure

Question, if H comes in, could McGovern go out with Young going back?

Think we're too tall down back as it is, would prefer Cowab + one of Haynes or Gov out for Carroll and Boyd.
Would prefer the 2nd option with Gov out in both scenarios.

Weitering, JSOS and Haynes is sufficient height down back.
Saad, Carroll, Boyd with Ollie/Doc as a 7th.

IN: Carroll, H, Boyd, Lij
OUT: Young, Moir, Gov, Doc

Young a bit stiff IMO, but H is an automatic selection.
Moir needs to work on his tank
Gov, very disappointing for some time.

White, Lord, Carroll stay for at least the next couple.

Fog, Ollie, on notice

Trust me mate, if he doesn't have the footy IQ to play a 3rd tall defender, where has the luxury of half-manning an opponent whilst watching the play unfold & arrive to him, then he won't be any good as a 3rd fwd.
