First I've heard of it. Where have you seen these rumours? I'm not sure I like the idea. As much as I would like to see it I wouldn't want to risk screwing up its legacy as one of the best Australian TV series ever made.

On closer inspection the grammar in the article is very poor too. Almost like it wasn't written by a person or a person who speaks english

Am rewatching this. Just watched the Monsters episode.

This might be the best episode of television in TV history. First 5 minutes are laugh out loud funny (the spider episode), then it gets really dark.
I effing love this show.

Best show ever for Aussie television, would or has sold overseas, its off the wall, funny , dramatic, characters you have sympathy for and a super understated under estimated genius writer and actor , who made it.

The only downside is I watched that many clips that I pretty much know what happens hehe.

Half way through season 2, they are really thorough about letting us know what makes Ray tick and why he is the way it is.

A good decision as it would get too predictable if he kicked ass in every episode.

I don’t see the hype about this. It’s enjoyable but I haven’t felt like it’s been incredible. I felt his relationship with satchwell wasn’t believable enough. There just didn’t seem to be any chemistry.

I just finished series 2 and my only issue is that they are making Ray out to be super human. No way he should have survived the second last episode vs the two bikies.

Other than that it's been great and I would have been satisfied if it ended at season 2.

Expecting the normal drop off for season 3 but hopefully it's still good.

I think some of the best episodes have been where not much really happens and it's mainly conversations.

I honestly can only see one outcome at the end of Mr Inbetween that doesn't completely fly in the face of everything that came before it.

Sorry for the quote four years after the post. I'm going with the other way of looking at it v Sopranos, where the latter seemed to only have one possible outcome. I see Mr Inbetween as more ambiguous: the parallels between him and Chopper Read seem quite obvious to me, although they're not exactly the same. And a point that Chopper always liked to make was that if someone had ended his run of luck and managed to kill him, it wouldn't be some cartoon supervillain; it'd be some no-name deads***. If Ray kept pushing his luck, eventually it would run out.

"Masterpiece" and "Best Ever" is a little strong for me. Too short (although I was ready for it to end), too uneven, too many vital characters done and dusted within about an episode and a half (or 35ish minutes) too many seemingly intriguing sub-plots that slammed into a wall and abruptly ended (the jail stint, Ray getting an extension on Freddie's debt "I know how to repay a favour"), too convenient for Ray or others to find people (the child traffickers, the dills who stolen the car with Ray stuck in the boot, the drug dealer...

I mean, it's up there for me as far as Australian conedy or drama series go, I'd have to give it more thought, but I'd have to put it behind a few Working Dog series for a start. It was great entertainment and I thoroughly enjoyed it - I think it was at its strongest with the conflicted moments: Ray doing jobs for people he didn't particularly like and on people who'd really done nothing to deserve their fate.

Absolutely no ambiguity in the ending. When you have the protagonist giving a menacing smile to the audience and "run" there is only one direction the writers are saying this is going whether we are explicitly shown or not
