Avoids jail but the magistrate looks to have taken it more seriously than Richmond and the AFL. On balance, a good outcome. Not a total wet lettuce leaf, not a draconian imposition either.

Noah is lucky the victim survived and didn’t suffer permanent injury or death.

AFL will give you 3wks now for a clumsy spoil that ko’s a bloke so probably lucky he didn’t get 10 from the AFL for bringing the game into disrepute. Though had they done so, Balta and Richmond would argue there is no natural justice being respected.

No matter the outcome plenty would have been upset.

Balta will live with his foolish error and can thank his lucky stars he didn’t inflict greater injuries on the victim or he’d be doing time in the big house.

Pretty harsh on Riolii when you now consider every man and his dog has a cannabis prescription.
Just shows how the justice system or the laws is flawed and screwed.

According to the situation.... Smoking marijuana is more offensive that bashing someone's head in Broad daylight.

Technically I think Rioli's suspension was for tampering with a drug test. Would likely have been much less if he'd just done the test and had it come up positive.

No point re hashing all this (pun intended) and you are right.

But nonetheless he panicked because he was concerned about being rubbed out for a positive cannabis test.

Still harsh anyway when U consider he didn't harm anyone and it wasn't performance enhancing and he was probably just listening to some Snoop Dogg....

And now you can get a Dr prescription after a 5 minute phone call and paying $99.

Not quite
Rioli wasn’t a legal matter it was a sports doping matter handled by Sports Integrity Australia and WADA

Nothing to do with “laws” but more to do with sporting bodies code of conduct

Where Balta’s was a matter for the legal system proper

Bit of mayo on the headline

Hardly firey and it was a press conference about the upcoming game that also happens to be one of the marquee games of the season

Fair enough if he doesn’t want the entire press conference derailed by a topic that hasn’t got a huge amount to do with the game and when he had already answered plenty of questions about Balta

Hardwick’s comments are confusing - if he wants the Premier to be tougher on crime that’s all fine but the end result of that would be Balta went to jail or deregistered. Can’t have one Hardwick without the other.
Well no, because the incident happened in NSW not Victoria. Hardwick is in effect saying she should worry about her own state.

5 minute presser. half way in DH asked about Balta's game; He responded

then asked did you or GC have any issue with him playing.

DH answered referred to AFL & RFC ban. Premier puts her nose in....

DH referred to her running her state well.

DH said Balta had plead guilty etc etc
