Hope not. I don't think anyone else in the 2s can play FP or HFF.

Clohesy can sniff a goal, though he's more of a "lock the ball in" forward than a "make magic happen" forward. Bit like Tom Atkins back in the day.

I actually saw signs in Clark today. Some of the decision making and the defensive intent is clearly afl standard. But he's got to be able to play higher minutes and fix his tank this TOG is not sustainable.
Mullin probably will never be an afl player.
Neale could be but urgently needs a sports psychologist. That contest where he created the spill for the close goal is what he didn't do all day and has to do every time. It's not his fault Henry and Cameron aren't reliable in aerial contests but he needs to be or we need to find another answer. Someone needs to have a real talk with him.

Sorry PO a lot of what you say is accurate but it’s time to take the rose coloured goggles off with Clark. Unwavering support for Clark when he is clearly not up to it is silly reading. I question your judgement. Same with your support for knevitt for that matter. These guys are not AFL standard unlike a heap of our other young guys

His first game and he was a late pick. Not sure what you are expecting. Clark was far more dissappointing

The thing that goes in his favor is we have nothing else coming through in the VFL.
A lot of puff pieces about Knevitt having the best preseason and he's been fairly underwhelming. A full 2 year older with a body 92kg/193cm.
There is Clohesy who has at least played one decent game at senior level but shown very little else.

Unfortunately, and I know you disliked the kid but Tanner Bruhn is a significant loss because while 17 touches/3 clearances per game is nothing special, improvement would have come.

What a fcuking dumb decision. Ohenry will never be an impact player as he takes a while to warm up. He is also as slow as a wet week. That decision shows some arrogance, they must have assumed Geelong would already have iced the game.
Many here were pleading that OH would be the sub. Hardly an arrogant decision. The only arrogance was that we were outrageous favorites today. They smashed us last year and caught us after a tough Monday game where we again overachieved

I dunno, I think 2022 SDK is pretty much back now.
Im not sire thats the case but he is improving. In any case get back to where he was in the second year isnt exactly coming along. In his second year he looked destined to be the best defender in the league by now.

In: Miers, Kolo
Out: Wiltshire, Clark

That strengthens the side substantially.

Don't think it's too complicated this week unless there's some issue with Miers/Kolo being available

I think we all want Clark to succeed but it's not looking good. He's a midfielder who can't find the ball, he has not added any size since we drafted him. Echoing a similar thought to an earlier poster who questioned his listed height at 181cm, 100% agree there's no chance he's that tall. Smallest Collingwood six footer I've seen.

It feels like he's now getting picked because he was a high pick... If he was picked second round do we think he'd be getting a game? Probably not.

I think that says it all. Has to show something pretty soon I'd think. Ditto Knevitt.

How are gamblers, mostly neutrals, arrogant about picking geelong? Not being smart isnt arrogant.

He says Henry is slow. Opinion invalid.

I recall they picked him because he was local. At the time it worried me because there were higher rated players available and the days of small midfielders is over. I just assumed he must be a highly skilled accumulator (Daicos style) or an in an under beast. He is neither of those.
I'm no Clark fan, but that's blatantly incorrect.

We missed out on the clear cream of the crop, and that was obvious at the time. Sheezel, Cadman, Wardlaw, Humphrey, Mackenzie, and Ashcroft.

Twomey called it his "Superstar six" or something like that. One of those cringe taglines he uses every year.

Clark, Ginbey, Hollands, and Phillipou were what was expected at our pick. A couple of others like Ed Allen, Matt Jefferson, and Oli Hotton were floated as bolters.

Most of them look better than Clark, but I wouldn't be losing sleep over any of them.

Shit happens. We didn't make a club defining blunder, which is why we shouldn't feel the need to defend it so heavily.

What a pointless stat. All it shows is a player who doesnt take risks and goes short and safe. Ironical given one post earlier you were complaining about our lack of fast ball movement into the foward half :)
bruh. That autocorrect.

Do you really think this?
Thought it was a great game and we won fair and square. I think the point is we are pretty good when we play an attacking direct game with pressure. Sadly our game style hasn't always allowed it.
I reckon Voss has finally listened and added some speed and young players...which is what your Cats team do. I'd love to have your coach, but am happy Voss has adjusted as he's needed to.
You guys looked substantially quicker than you have been and it made a huge difference.

whispers

Bailey Smith is going to win the Carji, isn't he?

Shannon Neale... I like him, I do.. But he has to start showing a bit more... its his 5th year in the AFL system. Yes his still young in only played 26 games. But he needs to start taking them marks and kicking some goals, im starting to get a little bit concern about him
Can't remember who he was talking about, but back in the noughties my brother said "xxxx needs to get reported".

I'm not suggesting Neale play dirty or actually hurt anyone, but yeah, if he played a game with a few marks, busted some packs, and erm, transgressed a bit... maybe that would be cathartic.

It is and if he ends up returning to sport (as other people in this situation have) you will see the difference that type of midfielder makes. Guthrie is cooked so there's no chance there. It shows how much we do need a Rowell type of player.
How do you know CG is cooked for all of 25?

Sounds like knevitt is injured.
Kolo should come in. Wiltshire will go out. I'm starting to consider whether we drop neale and take the big gamble of playing sdk forward but I'm not sure it would actually work. And in any case Stanley will probably struggle to back up this week so we couldn't drop Neale.
Why not?

Clarko dropped Corr and Logue when the replacements are just Hardeman and Dawson.
Set some standards.

With Clark, is it that he can "only" play in that 60% to 65% TOG range, or is it that the coaches are somewhat holding him back & restricting his TOG?

In his 2 VFL matches this year he's had 31 & 26 disposals, clearly playing 75%+ TOG - so that would suggest his tank isn't necessarily holding him back as much as his limited AFL minutes would suggest

If we want to see what he's truly capably of in his natural position then let's take the reins off, throw him in the guts and see what he can do
The speed of VFL compared to AFL - do you need anything like the same tank to play out a match? You're often matched up on a local tradie

We only got the pick to take him by taking on Bowes and his contract.
