You know what..... if we throw Murphy into the midfield, where he's been playing in the 2s, it'll be a HUGE nail in the Nicks coffin.

Go on Maffew, do it

Murphy could come back in but he’d replace Peatling who’d replace Crouch. Given its desperation stakes, wouldn’t be surprised to see Draper out of the 23 and that’s how Berry returns.

What I fear, ignoring doubt over TT and Fog.

Out In
Hinge. Smith
Draper. Berry
Crouch. Murphy
Nank. Fog
Murray. Butts

Tex. TT. Rachelle
Keays. Fog. ANB
Cumming. Dawson. Curtin
Worrell. Keane. Max
Laird. Butts. Milera
ROB. Soligo. Rankine
Peatling. Murphy. Smith. Berry
Taylor

This surely cannot happen. If Smith comes in, I'll be very surprised. Not even Nicks is that dumb, surely?
Multiple outs means panic stations in Nicksy's peabrain. Losing multiple players means continuity is affected and what better way to steady the continuity ship than with the blokes with the most experience.

The good time debut games have gone out the window.
Keep up with this Nicksy, it will be to your detriment.

I often miss subtleties in here, so I will ask: are you defending Nicks moving him to FF?

If Dawson was injured pre-game, don't pick him.
If he was injured during the game, sub him out or get him on the bench.
If he was "sore", get him off the ground to assess and treat.
Having him idle at FF in the last where he got zero disposals is the move of a desperate and moronic Coach, which we have.

There are many things Nicks could do to make our team and style of play better, but he does very few of them. That's proven by his record; one of those traits is that when we get over 4 goals behind in a game, we have never won that game under Nicks.
At the end of the 3rd quarter we were 42 points down :madv1: = GAME OVER.
The final margin of 18 points flattered us.

What Nicks has to do is make sure we don't get in that situation eg by not allowing Serong and Brayshaw to waltz around the oval with impunity from the opening bounce.

P.S. my guess --- and it's only a guess --- for Dawson's drop in form is that he is totally frustrated by what is happening and puts so much into the game trying to lift everybody and impact the game that he has burned himself out and ends up making errors.
Not even slightly defending nicks
Was merely speculating on reasons why dawson might have been put at full forward and or has seen a drop off in form
Am well aware of nicks' shortcomings and how easily we were beaten in the first 3 quarters last week when the game was there to be won

I don’t care I’d rather watch us lose if it gets us closer to a new coach. Nicks is never proactive with selection and positional moves, only reactive to injuries and media scrutiny. Can’t wait for him to get the f out of our club
I like that people think that nicks will get sacked. I'm fully expecting him to be at the club next year. Injury excuses are already being prepared
We might even get a scenario where smith murphy and borlase come in this week. Fun times

Greatest fear is he becomes the next Hinkley , but with even worse results

I am not certain he will be around if another year without finals. How can the club justify a 7th year on the back of one almost finals appearance.

My fear is he will make the 8, finish 6th or 7th, the club extends his contract for an extra year to the end of 2027 and in that time all he does is take us to to mediocrity and we never finish higher. Meanwhile Dawson is on the verge of aging out and Rankine in his late 20s. The point is here is that Roo outright said in all his promotion for the rebuild under Nicks we were chasing to be an elite club. Right now, we are not acting like an elite club.

We are too afraid of moving Nicks despite the fact he has never ever shown any evidence of progressing this side beyond natural progression. Its bordering on being an utter disaster this rebuild because its got to the stage where we feel finals justifies Nicks position after 6 years....6 ****ing years and its a hit and hope finals that defines his coaching? are we ****ing serious? it shouldnt be just about finals it should be week by week performance and frankly its been a ****ing disgrace. First 2 weeks good, but honestly as the rounds progressed we look slow and subpar. This alone should be good enough to **** him off.

I’m holding fire unto selection comes out. What has hurt him was the non selection of guys like Edwards and Ryan last year when the season was cooked. This has always been a problem. Now we are heading into a crucial game, does he have the faith to go with these untried kids that could potentially be very good players or will he rest on the tried and mediocre seniors at his disposal? I feel Nicks has created this problem himself, as well as the ridiculous midfield selection in the SANFL at times.

True. It’s staggering that for someone who’s back the boys strategy has consistently failed and for someone who has had no consequence to losing for so long (so that he could have easily tried youngsters), that nicks always falls back to his simple minded selections. I think at seasons end this next fortnight will be referred to as Nicks last stand.
