really unfortunate the VFL team have the bye this week, it's some real crap timing.
Judson misses out on more game time under his belt.
smillie, sonsie,.McAuliffe,smith,Fawcett ++
Team just had week off like 2 weeks ago.
disappointing!

Absolutely shits me when the VFL team have a bye but the AFL team are playing.

There is no way Alger is ready.
Why? He kicks goals every week in the VFL, 1.3 two weeks ago, but should have been the other way round. 2 last week.
He is quick and dangerous, a great mark and he would be replacing MRJ who is neither at the moment and can't run out more than half a game.

Harley Reid is a clear clear number one pick. He would compliment Lalor so well. Also looking at this years draft at this stage it’s that tall bloke and about 6 academy kids that will follow. Pick 2 could be like pick 8. This is meant to be a weak draft.

He is definitely worth giving picks 2 and 3/4 for.

I was strongly against it, but Im not that excited about this years draft prospects. If we beat West Coast this week, we definetly finish above them. That will give us picks 3 and 4 after the AFL give them 2 for Oscar. If Harley signed with us for a reasonable contract, I would do it and West Coast would accept it. If it's going to cost close to 2 million a year, then its way too bigger risk.

Rough order of who we have in the VFL ready for an AFL game:

McAuliffe - think his match fitness is close enough to the level needed
Kaleb Smith - In good form and we need to really see what he can do off HBF in the AFL before we spend picks on McCarthy in MSD or Josh Lindsay in National draft.
Campbell Gray - really excited by him. Currently being played down back but could be valuable almost anywhere.
Sonsie - Unsure who he'd replace from the team. Form is a bit up and down in VFL. Not sure where he fits.
Fawcett - Should get his chance to rotate with Faull into the seniors at some point.
Blight - Could easily slot into the backline at the senior level if needed.
Jasper Alger - No rush. But showing promising signs
Smillie - No rush. But showing promising signs
Simms - No rush. But showing promising signs
Judson Clarke - Needs a fair bit of match fitness but looking really good.

This game due to opposition is effectively a VFL standard game

Bring in Smith , Alger , Blight , McAuliffe , Grey

Smith replcaes Short who has been shocking all year and deserves to be dropped and a kick up the backside

Alger in for Rioli who has also been terrible and dropped

McAuliffe - Its time the kid after last weeks game against a undefeated Box Hill has earned his spot - Ross out

Grey - Was a good game and should have remained - McIntosh out and Trezise/Banks plays wing

Blight - Miller can be rested or dropped or injured which ever , Blight could chop out in the Ruck and Foward against a sh!t eagles defence or give us the option to swing Brown/Grey foward

Out Ross, Miller, Rioli
In McAuliffe, Gray, Alger

FB Vlastuin, Balta, Gray
HB Brown, Trainor, Broad
C Banks, McAuliffe, Ralphsmith
HF Mansell, Faull, Campbell
FF Green, Lynch, Lalor
FOL Nankervis, Hopper, Taranto
IC McIntosh, Short, Dow, Alger, Trezise
I like the INs
But your line up means Kmac is back up ruck. Gray was KPF before RFC took him. Put him on the bench, rotate for Lynch, Faull & Nank.

Leave Miller IN drop Green too.

Injury Report

High Performance Manager Ben Serpell provides this week’s injury report ahead of Richmond’s Round 9 clash against the West Coast Eagles at the MCG this Sunday.

This Injury Report is brought to you by nib. With nib, life could be potentially amazing.

SCROLL DOWN FOR THE FULL INJURY LIST.

After both the AFL and VFL sides' matches on the weekend, Serpell confirmed that the playing group came out relatively bruise-free, however, ruckman Mate Colina is set to be sidelined after he suffered a subluxed patella injury.

In positive news, Serpell told Richmond Media that first-round draft pick Taj Hotton is now 7-10 weeks away from making his return since his ACL injury in May last year.

Samson Ryan: Foot, 1-3 weeks

“Samson is still managing that plantar fascia issue, we just want to make sure we look after him for this next little while,” Serpell said.

“The big guys tend to take a little bit longer, I think we had him down for one to two weeks, but it is probably going to stretch out to one to three (weeks) in this point of time.”

Mykelti Lefau: ACL, 1-3 weeks

“Mykelti is doing very well, I’m happy to say that he will be back in one to three weeks,” Serpell said.

“So hopefully we get through some testing next week and see him on the field very soon.”

Mate Colina: Knee, 2-4 weeks

“As a whole, everyone got through ok (this weekend), but unfortunately, Mate Colina subluxed his patella a little bit, so we will see him out for a couple of weeks here," Serpell said.

“Outside of that, everyone pulled up alright.”

Tylar Young: ACL, 2-4 weeks

“Tylar probably sits a week behind Mykelti, so again he is performing really well in training and as a result I have been able to bring his return to play forward a little bit,” Serpell said.

Dion Prestia: Achilles, 3-5 weeks

“Dion is doing really well,” Serpell said.

“He is getting more and more involved in footy drills, and he is running sessions on the weekends for the rehab guys, so he is putting a good body of work in and hopefully we see him back in three to five weeks.”

Taj Hotton: ACL, 7-10 weeks

“We are happy to say that we can put weeks on Taj Hotton,” Serpell said.

“Back in seven to 10 weeks, which is exciting for him. I just spoke to him this morning, and he is very excited about that.”

Harry Armstrong: Hamstring, 8-11 weeks

“Harry has been doing really well at training,” Serpell said.

“He still has a bit of work to get through at the moment, but we will see him out there as much as possible for the next little while and hopefully we can build some athletic development through him.”

Josh Gibcus: ACL, TBC

“For Gibbo (Josh Gibcus), what we are going to do is still take a cautious approach,” Serpell said.

“We are still managing those two significant injuries year on year, and we will put him through some testing over the next couple of weeks.

“Hopefully, we can get back with a more accurate timeframe after that.”

Observed some training today. I thought I'd post in a training thread, but could only find pre-season, so this week's game thread seemed to be next best of where to report.

Observations:

- No MRJ from what I saw.

- Taj Hotten involved in most of the skills session - however there was no contact drills when I was there. Taj and a few of the other ACL boys, Lefau and Young did some running after the others left the track.

- Prestia involved too, but the session was very light. Lefau and Young too as mentioned

- Skills drills included, groups kicking goals after a simulated contest. Mid field in their own skill session and discussion.

- Seth clowning around a bit, more vocal when he converted his goals. Bit of a friendly play wrestle with Alger too

- Newy and Sam Lonergan returning the balls from behind the goals at end of session with a few barrels. Newy hit most of them sweet. Lonergan less so. Lynch a couple too.

As I say, light session. However I though some may like to hear what I saw. In particular the ACL boys being involved.

The thought of Lynch kicking torps at training gives me anxiety..
