Simmo was good and has been all year. His segments on 360 with Horse are excellent imo
Love Simmo and the Fox commentary team. So much better than 7. Enhances my footy watching experience.

On another point, sub needs to go or rules need to be amended. We sub Sidey and minutes later Schultz gets concussed. Surely the rules can be amended where a concussion is involved?

Was Simpson bad? I thought he was pretty glowing in his praise of our ability to intercept, weather the clearance domination, and score through system. He seems super impressed by our ability to win in a variety of ways
Simpson was full of praise for us.

That's my pet hate with the sub, every time there's a tactical one, there's always an injury afterward, it's a curse. I've seen it happen in many games this year

But I think that's the risk you take if you do the tactical sub off, it can go pear shaped, I rather they bin the sub entirely tbf

Best win I have seen in a long while, unlike last year, where we faded in games badly, we looked strong all the way top the end of the game, and massive credit to Jarod Wade and the High performance team. And others have said, whilst we had many tiggy touch ward free kicks, the one against Pearce that wasn't payed was a disgrace, when the game was on the line, only because it was so obvious.

Lipinski won't be dropped, sorry to burst everyone's bubble, he is one of our best runners and whilst he did nothing last night, he has been very good this year. Plus we also don't know what his role was. Crisp was super human last night, which is no surprise to us, having seen him the last 10 years, going to the inside mid role where he just took over the game. Membery looked spent last night, he was the only player who looked fatigued. Nick went in sore and played like it, and added something new going forward, good option to have for later in the year. Schultz and Beau were huge, as was Bobby Hill and Elliot, super dangerous.

But the most important part was our system stands up no matter who is on the field. And after we won, I was thinking how other clubs perceive us, internally we all know every week we are getting something close to that, and are never out of games. Teams like Freo and Melbourne have little system to their game, they must watch us and Geelong and wonder how we do it. Pumped with that win, needed it and now we only have two interstate games and can consolidate our spot.

If Lipinski's role is to be soft as butter, lose every contest, gets scared at the sight of another player and runner like he is in quicksand, he played his role to a tee.

I was quite critical of Moore in 2024. But in recent weeks he really appears to have dedicated himself to defending first. Playing like an old fashioned centre half back. I like it.
Probably had minor injury last year that he was hiding. Because he was less aggressive last year compared to 2023 and 2025... you can really tell he is much more active now and running full blast morem

Simmo has a soft spot for us. The Channel 7 pro-WA commentary team was biased towards Freo. Daisy Pearce and Ryan Daniels were unbearable

Suspect there are a lot of current coaches who can recognise the different ways we're winning, how well coached we are, etc.

So no surprise the likes of Longmire and Simmo are happy to give praise where it's due.

Ex players and "neutral" commentators on the other hand... debatable.

I just think that with Nathan Murphy defending at all costs, Moore was able to stray from his primary defending role - and it worked.
But without Murphy it was shown up and he lost his way.
He appears to be much more back to basics this season.

I think Gawn does have the edge in general marking (helps that he's a bit taller), but Cameron is better defensively. He intercepts more, tackles more, applies more pressure at ground level and does more in the back half. I think that suits us better than Gawn as he is currently playing.
Disagree that Cameron is better defensively.

Gawn is the anchor for Demons premiership and style. The demons at there best was a wall, a fortress to escape from when teams kick out off behinds and to attack.... Gawn marks what it seems every kick out at the 80m to 100m mark from the demons goal post... he marks with players hanging off him. Similar to Darcy Cameron, but Gawn does it sublime and with ease.

Darcy Cameron however hangs around the defensive back more as an intercept marker because that is Pies game plan by having 2 rucks play together. So Darcy Cameron as loose man gets a lot of intercept.... does not mean he's better defensive player than Gawn. Gawn is just required to be following the ball more and less chances to help down back.

But Gawn is very dominant in contested marking all around the ground. Surprise he isn't playing forward more to help with demons lack of goal kicking options.

This team is built different this year. I'm loving our ability to beat teams in different ways. Only the very best can do that. We went back to school in the pre season and our game plan and ability to execute has gone up several notches. Credit to Fly and the boys but also hats off to D.Moore and co for driving the standards.

Small forwards unreal. Crispy huge after last week's disappointment. Key backs like a brick wall all night.

Sensational start to the year. A huge month coming up that could solidify top 4 and possibly even a top 2 spot by the halfway mark of the season.

2023 vibes but dare i say it, a superior version.

Simmo was decent.
Pavlich is an absolute disgrace. Biased towards freo and can barely string a sentence together.
Schofield adds nothing. At one point he suggested Freo better come back or the boos would start from the crowd. Absolute disgraceful commentary.

Eddie was lambasted about being biased during Collingwood games but he's no where near the likes of pavlich and Hodge and all the other affiliated callers these days.

Sorry, I am talking about right now rather than at their peaks. At their peak Gawn is just about unrivalled post-2000 besides Dean Cox.

The Freo board is very similar to the Carlton board…

“That’s it for me for a while. I cannot keep having JL waste my time like this. I’ve honestly better things to do.”

Supporting them would probably drive me a bit insane too.

They have some really serious talent in Serong, Brayshaw, Jackson, Peace, Treacy, Bolton and Young, some decent youth in O'Driscoll, Johnson, Reid, and Draper, and good key position players generally. And yet, the gulf between their best and their worst is probably the most extreme in the competition.
