Yze is a complete moron. This I am convinced of now. Continues to play shit trucks like Toss Ross, Banks and Ralphshit. It’s embarrassing from him now
All three are better than McIntosh or Short. And much younger. If he's serious then these two are the obvious choices to be moved on.

Yze has turned out to be a massive disappointment. No initiative, no willingness to change the team or game plan. Refuses to drop players that fail every week and rewards mediocre performance. Wants to be mates with the players instead of a coach. A flat out embarrassment. An indictment on our executive that our final 2 coaching candidates are the worst 2 coaches in the AFL by a mile

Does anyone remember the super sad poster called muppet slayer or something who was in Perth about 5 -10 years ago? I think they were in Perth. Anyone remember the name? Winnie blues mate (not really)….

no richmond VFL this week, we got the bye
FFs …In that case it’s mind boggling we’d drop Tresize and retain Macca. I knew this would happen when we retained Macca in the off-season - he’d take 20+ games off the kids, and here we are.

If anyone can tell me how our future benefits from Macca playing and not Tresize (who has been more than capable in games he’s played) then I’m all ears.

Yeah thought tresise has been coming along nicely no way i would drop him. I don't see anything different from the way Dimma was running the show even the game plan is the same bomb it forward and hope for the best. Skill wise we don't look any different either and only two games we have won have been by playing our old style by hunting the oppo down.
This sends the wrong message

I was watching the pies freo game. Freo so many talented players and going nowhere. Dip dive into the team and they are simply two tall and run out of legs. Something I'm sort of noticing with our system even in the seconds. Have we gone in too tall in the draft? Man I hate to be a recruiter trying to do the right mix is frustrating.

do you watch any of our games? Yze game plan is different to Hardwicks and that bomb it forward tactic is a player issue not a game plan. TT and Hopper are looking to dish it out of clearances but their team mates are just not showing up consistently.

I find it hard to listen to anyone that thinks Yze isnt a good coach. ffs we beat The blues and the undefeated GC on a ground we havent won on in years. The hawks was a blow out but every decent pundit was saying we played well just couldnt get it on the score board.... you know what that tells me? its buy in from the players.

easy to say the coach is bad when we are a bottom 4 side and in rebuild... its a cowards take

Back the coach, trust the process

Good to see more youngsters in.
The future 3 pronged forwardline in action, I expect to see Faul and Sims sharing some ruck work when Nank needs a rest.
The Tresize wing experiment not working so get more speed in there, hopefully McAuliffe isn't sub and makes an impact.
Dow replaces Banks on the wing. Tresize is quicker than both.

Greatest clubman ever, never injured 30 y.o. I expect 10 more seasons of the great man. Tresize be delisted before KMac dropped.

Kameron probably got a building contract for some part of the new Jack Dyer Stand. Can't drop him till its finished. Gunna name a wing after him.

Crazy its almost like the team its not results based in year one of the rebuild. The players and team have internal goals and internal standards, they need to do those things and meet those standards to play. Getting flogged doesn't change that. The goal is to be flogging teams in a few years, not winning today.

I agree with pretty much everything you’re saying except the team being selected each week this year has been results based. We have been selecting what our match committee considers to be our best available team. As this team is close to our oldest/most experienced the results 100% matter when it comes to team selection.

In 3 years time Broad, Vlastuin, Short, McIntosh, Lynch and Nank are likely all gone. Taranto and Hopper will be on their last legs.

From the 14 other players being selected each week, excluding Balta, how many are actually going to be running around in our best 23.

Put Lalor, Trainor and Faull to the side as they are high draft picks in a strong draft, i.e. much more likely to make the grade.

Campbell has obviously been the standout of the rest. Brown has probably shown the next highest level but is inconsistent. Miller is solid but also the oldest of the bunch.

Then we have Ross, Dow, Banks, Trezise, HRS, Green, Mansell and MRJ (from our last team). There’s been the odd decent game/quarter from this group but overall they are all appearing most likely to be a bunch of fringe players. Other than Trezise/Green, this group is our next most experienced and should be held more accountable for their lack of influence in games. We should be rotating these players more, along with the likes of McIntosh/Short, in favour of our younger talent.

I’m hopeful that Sims and Kmac 2.0 are getting full games this week, and we are starting to increase the player rotation. However, I am dumfounded as to why Trezise has been dropped ahead of the likes of McIntosh and Ross, both woeful v the Hawks. Green also survives another week of producing nothing.

The mix is off right now but ultimately it could be the recruiting decision that sees us peak sooner (and probably achieve more). I don’t think we had the intention of taking Trainor and Armstrong but when they were still available it was a no brainer.

I don’t think the coaching is the issue at this stage but i am slowly developing concerns about the match committee. Don’t get me wrong, these issues are common across the whole AFL and it took our club a major internal review to fix them under Dimma.

Second half of this season will be huge in terms of assessing the coaching and match committee. If they mix it up and find players over this period it could be huge for our success going forward.

Our club is at the start of a serious rebuild. That means VFL and AFL programs being well aligned. Development is the number 1 focus of VFL and AFL obviously a more competitive focus, however, where we are at on the clock / window is probably around 6am hence why we sit in 16th place of 18 teams. Our premiership window probably starts opening around 2028-29.

We all say it - imagine if you could straight away have say last week's team with an extra 40-50 games experience on every player. We'd be a totally different team in terms of system, confidence, competitiveness etc. The Hawks were awful 2 years ago. Be patient and back in our coaching staff. There's always this competitive lull of a few years when undertaking a rebuild off the back of a dynasty. If we accept the dynasty, then we equally have to accept the frustrations that inevitably follow with a hard rebuild.

With that rebuild it's important to keep an experienced core of players to which the young players are added. Playing the likes of experienced duo KMac and Short right now - aside from the fact their 2025 form warrants AFL selection - helps ensure that we are more competitive by a few goals each week. The club obviously sees their contribution as important from a structure viewpoint and allowing our younger players to gradually learn and develop at AFL level which is very demanding for young 18-21yo kids.

The group of players you refer to as fringe, would be similar at most clubs. That group has an important role to play. They may end up as important role players in successful Richmond teams in a few years, some will no doubt be depth players while others night get traded / delisted as we upgrade their list spot.

Call it being "dropped" if you want. Trezise and Rioli aren't yet finished AFL products. Playing VFL for a week or 3 gives them an opportunity to keep developing and pushing themselves to get better and when form warrants, they'll get another AFL opportunity. And be better for the experience. And when they and others go back to VFL they are helping to build a strong VFL program which will underpin long-term success at the AFL level.

It's great to see KMac2 and Sims getting a game this week. McAuliffe had an injury setback in pre-season and from memory again at VFL level, so he has had to work his way back. And VFL have byes at the most inopportune times. I'd personally prefer players to be franking their VFL form over a few weeks than being rushed in off the back of one or two good games. Cos I think a strong VFL build probably ensures that they will contribute more consistently when they get to AFL level.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the 22/23 we select each week evolves over the remainder of 2025 and then into 2026. And of course how that impacts our competitiveness on the field. It's gonna be a bumpy ride initially which I believe will get smoother as we go along. Pretty much like how the rebuild went under Dimma from 2010-15.

McAuliffe named ❤️

This is probably the only game this season where I think we should win. We can lose to them in Perth, but we need to start building a team that doesn’t lose games when they’re favourites to win.

Losing against North Melbourne next week isn’t as big of a deal, but a loss at the MCG against West Coast would be disappointing.

I tend to agree.
I’ve seen enough glimpses from a young rebuilding side.
Only downfall is him playing spuds like kmac and short atm

Given our wins so far this season, we obviously have the capability to destroy wce. But I think we rise to the occasion and being the favourites probably doesn’t help our mentality. Interesting test for a young team but certainly not expecting to win.

Future is on display though.

Lalor, McAulife, Sims, Faull, Trainor, Green all under 15 games. Crazy really
