The cold here will be a major issue. Down for the game and went for a walk down around the Harbour tonight about 5. It was frigid. Snow on Mt Wellington. Wind blowing. Sun goes early and takes any hint of warmth that was there. I forgot what cold was.We will need to be well and truly warmed up

I know about zorkos stuff because every three weeks I get needling, some with saline, lignocaine or prp. I've been doing this since 2007 (my body is a piece of crap).

Needling is acupunture on steroids. The injection needle goes in, it's jiggled around, the muscles twitch like crazy, then you move to the next spot and repeat and repeat. So much worse than acupunture and the bruises can last for weeks.

The guy zorko sees has developed his own sequence/ intensity/frequency that appears to be very effective. I think it's like every inch along the muscle. The guy works with a lot of elite athletes, including other afl players. I'm saving up the money and the bravery to try him.

Zorkos initial treatment was every day for a month (from a zorko interview). You get big bruises that last for weeks. He said he was one big bruise from the waist down and in a lot of pain the entire time. I hope for his sake he maintains now and doesn't have to go that hard again.

The way saline, dry needling, lignocaine injections work was explained to me as they stimulate the muscle nerve (the twitching) which causes rebuild/repair to the nerve and improves messaging to the muscle. So it gets better at signalling the muscles to change state - stretch/contract cycle is improved + better blood flow = better performance.

PRP is where they draw blood, spin it down, pull off the plasma which contains platelets. They then inject that plasma into joints. This breaks down fiberous tendons and ligaments and strengthens the joint.

This is all WADA approved and a standard treatment for athletes. And many would need to continue after retirement because they are so banged up.
I really need to try dry needling - I use acupuncture for my tenosynovitis when it flairs up as it's the only thing that I've ever found to work (steroid injections last like 1-2 days max and the only time I've had a noticeable effect from NSAIDs was a side effect to aspirin when I was about 8). But it does sound like this would potentially do more for it.

Fagan obviously read my e-mail. He’s coaching beautifully. This week, I have instructed him to go with Lohmann, W. Ashcroft, L. Ashcroft and Fort on the bench, with McKenna as sub. I did give him the option of starting with McKenna though, and using Fort as a sub. I was keen that he give Fort some game time this week, because he will be starting against Melbourne the following week.

I’m pretty sure your emails are automatically forwarded on to the AFP, 3kz.

Tbh, Tasmania is an awful place to play AFL. It's always cold, the wind is erratic (which is why the AFL are forcing a roof for the tasmanian stadium) and the atmosphere there is usually weak seeing as these games never really sell out. Would be happy with a win considering where it's being played.

Just love team selections.Caleb Daniel at CHB really taking the mickey.I think we went through a period of selecting Harris in the forward line.Gotta get your fun some way.

Not much difference to playing in Melbourne , toughen up you lot , I would worry that our lot are in the right head space and take the Roos seriously, they will be a lot harder than many expect

Waiting to see if Gallop makes the cut for this round.

I'll be fun to see the meltdown if Gallop walks in, starts chasing / tackling aggressively and kicks 2-3.

Can't believe Fletcher's up to 50 games already!!! Done so well to get in the team and develop into a great player already
somebody i know who played football at a very high level thinks fletcher will be the next captain of the club.

i was a bit taken aback at first, but the more i thought of what i had seen from fletcher as a player on and off the field the more i could see where they were coming from.

I think that is realistically possible, we know Ty will leave nothing in the tank on game day and in his quest for a decent AFL career.

In- Logan Morris, Kai Lohmann, Darcy Fort
Out- Sam Day (Injured), Will McLachlan (Omitted), Conor McKenna (Omitted)

Would have preferred Gallop to Gardiner.

Bench-

K. Lohmann
W. Ashcroft
L. Ashcroft
D. Gardiner
D. Fort

The sub could be any of:

Fort: I would play him rather than risk Hipwood. Unless Gardiner has put his hand up, but he is just back from an ACL.

Gardiner: Can play defense and forward so a possibility.

Lohmann: Best 22 player but they might decide to ease him back to AFL v North.

I would go Gardiner personally

Gardner very well underestimated with some supporters on Big Footy. He has and always will give 100% and thoroughly deserves his spot in the team for the North game. Gallop will get his chance I am sure but at the present time, he hasn't done enough, nor been consistent enough each game in the VFL to earn a place...it won't be long I think.

Fages hasn't been shy at using a tall as the sub previously. Gardiner is my bet too.
Unless they plan to run Oscar hard for 3/4 and then sub him out for Fort in the last.
But then you are running a bit of a risk if an injury occurs earlier in the game.
So I would still stick with Gardiner as sub personally.
