Been rebuilding for more than 5 years now winning a little over a dozen games in that time to be passed by a side that’s stripped it back after 3 flags at ground zero.

We're so early in our rebuild we're still being carried by veterans like Vlastuin, Broad, Nank, Hopper, TT. So even if we win we haven't gone 'past them' because we're still on the way down. We're like Hawthrown circa 2020 not 2023.

I think all the injuries last year had confused people about where we're at in the rebuild. Your list gets better when your young players improve more than your old players get worse... I don't think we've hit that yet.

I think Kangas will be coming out firing with the need to make a statement.
We are more likely to be concentrating on structure and effort without being to fussed about the scoreboard.

Going to be concentrating on individual players moments:
Kaleb Smith - can he demonstrate some of that run and carry we need.
Kane McAuliffe - can he show he belongs in our AFL team and not a fringe player.
Can we get a connection between the midfield and forwards? Steely, Seth, Mansell, Ross, Dow, etc.

Good perspective It's also a group aspect as the young / old group growns / shrinks in size. Not sure about the Hawks 2020 comparison cos wasn't Clarko still coaching until 2021? Definitely get that we have a few tough years ahead before we start to become a serious finals contender.
