Maybe i should be more forgiving to the knobhead, he meant 3 european trophies to his 1 major title 👌
Does the FA Cup count?

Could go all Arteta and count the Community Shield as well. :moustache:

There is a wiki page on the Chelsea/Liverpool rivalry which I consider pretty accurate.

2003-2015 was a bit more heated.

2016-Present it's died down a lot. Although we did have an FA Cup, Super Cup, and 2 League Cup Finals in recent years but it's been one way traffic.

IMO it was at its most intense from 2004-07, when Mou/Benitez were in charge of Chelsea/Liverpool respectively.

The two's personal enmity spread to the fans, and competing for PL and European silverware constantly didn't help.

Agree that over the past decade the rivalry has cooled down because Man City have become Liverpool's biggest rivals, while Chelsea have had other problems (ownership issues + gross inconsistency).

Real Madrid

Probably the only club I hate. They have consistently acted like campaigners over the years.

Florentino Pérez was one of the driving forces behind the breakaway European Super League.
Luis Figo - Barcelona to Real Madrid. Very shit behaviour all round.
Ramos being a very dirty player including deliberately taking out Salah in 2018.
The hissy fit after Rodri was rightfully awarded the Balon D'Or.
Bale preferred to play golf rather than represent them.

Did you go to the semi final ?
Yeah. Shame AFC are one of maybe 2 or 3 well run clubs in the league. Been quite an enjoyable experience this side of the ditch with Bill Foley's slick operation.

Then you've got the likes of Brisbane playing to 4% capacity crowds

Would the GF have gone to Eden Park had you made it?

They're not alone, but they are the biggest destructive force to the competitive balance of the sport globally of all clubs and have been for decades.

I hate them with every inch of my being.

Give it time, I think it’s only fair to judge Auckland once all the hype around the club has died off.

Brisbane used to have crowds. The Wanderers had decent crowds when they were successful early.

Be interesting to see what it looks like in 5 and then 10 years time.

Yeah hopefully they're shit playing in front of 3k in a few years.

Their risk will come if Foley sells. Won't be getting 20k avg like they did year one next year. But there's so many British here it will get 8-15k unless awful

I think it's good in a way that they're isolated from the rest of the comp over there, can get their big crowds, enjoy their derby games, and hopefully keep building. Who's to say there can't be a third NZ team after a while?

There'd be an appetite for a Christchurch side. Very surprised the NRL went Perth over the South Island bid. Stadium is just about complete. Fast growing area in the country and has an untapped league market.

But truth be told football is where most kids are heading. With concussion so rife in rugby, and the rules in union making a lot of games unwatchable + Super Rugby being barely any better run than Football Australia, AFC and the game in general has a massive opportunity here.

I think the a league dropped the ball capitalising on the wanderers early success so I wonder if they strike in the next couple of years to try to create some momentum in nz.

Christchurch United would open up an opportunity for a Sister City Derby with Adelaide. An actual sibling rivalry.

How many EFL/EPL investigations for FFP/PSR before, during and after that success must that club endure...

I'd see them being able to generate similar support to the Nix. Around that 7-9k mark in an off year from the Nix is a good effort. The Canterbury folk would be a good addition.

Compare that to a few of the other licenses handed out over the years where they're getting 3-5k even with the City Football Group behind one of them!

As someone who spent almost two years living just outside of Christchurch I can tell you it would be a hard fight.
Absolutely it could work, but there would need to be shit loads of marketing, constant promoting and work of development down there.

One very real course of action though which would get locals on side is the whole "us v them thing"....they could milk that against not only the Aussie teams but also the north island teams.

Your best bet would be actually to try and recruit players who are into winter leisure sports from Europe, as they can go to the Alps in the off season and such.

Chch is a great little city with surprisingly good weather, so for the right kind of person it'd be a good sell to attract players.
Plus obviously a great way to try keep the best south island talent there for a bit longer before they chase opportunities elsewhere.

Yeah the us against them mentality would see it get some real support. They're mad for the crusaders but the two sides could co exist.

And yeah great thinking get the Swiss, Austrian 30 odd year olds who can enjoy the off season snow.

Basically the opposite of what Auckland is offering with the warmer climate and south American signings.

I know it's not the thread for it. And this started because of my dislike for Victory, but the A League just needs a few things sorted off field with how a few clubs are run. The on field product of 9 of the 13 sides is quality imo. And that 9 includes a fraud organisation in Western United who are a great watch

England - Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal & Chelsea.
Scotland - Celtic and Rangers
France - PSG and Lyon
Italy - Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Roma
Spain - Real Madrid, Barcelona and Athletico Madrid
Germany - Bayern Munich
Netherlands - Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord

Australia - Couldn't give a rat's arse about the A-League because they isn't a local team in the Men's comp, but I do hate Melbourne City, Melbourne Victory, Brisbane and Sydney FC in the women's. I'm sure there would be some cross over when we eventually get our own men's team. :)
