well, we got outta WC with the 4 points and mostly no new injuries so thats a win

Harley Reid got to see the Hoops up close and personal, so thats good too and I reckon he had some footy jumper envy going there which never hurts either.

But geez we made hard work of it.

So now, onto a much harder task, albeit at home, Vs the Nepo Babies and their plastic army of Academy delivered AFL supported prodigys.

We look to be running out of gas a bit and the Suns and their quick ball movement will be the right kind of Catpotnite to undo us.

If we bring the skills and effort of the first half last week it will be another 10 goal loss for us.

WE are good enough to get the 4 points here if we play to our best - get to the ball first, take the chances we create and dont play silly cute footy.

Suns can be very hard at it and big bodied - so the first option, hard head over it stuff will be needed this week IMO.

And our F50 entries need help too = cant be bombing it long relentlessly.

Not too many changes this week but we will see

There were 9 players who played on Sunday who didn't play the last time we played the Suns:

In: Cameron Clohesy De Koning Duncan Humphries Mannagh O'Sullivan Smith Stanley
Out: Bowes Bruhn Clark Conway C. Guthrie Kolodjashnij Parfitt Rohan Tuohy

If Danger gets up this week, that could make 10 players who missed the game in Darwin last year playing this time around.

I thought you meant this year in reference to one of our 4 losses.

Our form has yet to approach the lows of mid 2024. The squad we sent up there wasn't strong. They're a 6 goal better side there than anyone else.

If we lose by 10 goals I'll be mighty surprised. Even if we play terribly.

I think people tend to forget how seamlessly geelong turns over its list on an ongoing basis. You hardly even notice it happening, it’s like a constant stream

I think they'll want Danger back in
His contested work inside 50 and his threat running back with the flight into an open 50 1 out are just such a danger and sweat factor for oppo

The attention oppo have to put into him can free up others a little.

Can you be cameron obsessed as a defense like WCE was if you hve dangerfield asl in the forward line?? I would say not

Scott all but confirmed Danger would return post-WCE game and he's only definitive like that when there's no doubt around it. He did the same thing before Stewart returned v Bulldogs.

We haven't played the Suns at KP since 2021, it's certainly overdue.

Should we be concerned that Danger might be back this week when you consider the fact Cameron's kicked 20 goals in the 10 games he's played alongside Danger, and 18 since Danger went off injured against Port in the first quarter 3 weeks ago?

I've heard Jezza say several times Danger keeps getting in his way, but those stats tend to confirm it.

Other factors have also been in play. Miers returned and is fully in his groove - our ball movement instantly lifts a few gears. Humphries, Henry and Stewart have come back in and our scores from turnovers have exploded. Stengle has found his creative spark. Cameron has also had 3 fairly pedestrian KPD match ups.

There is something valid as far as the Dangerfield factor but it's overstated IMO. Players form fluctuates - this has been pretty common with Cameron and his time at Geelong.

If Dangerfield is to be playing forward, I think we need to look at the total personal up there and that someone has to come out

While it's obvious Jezza has enjoyed the last few weeks, it was also suggested that Henry should enjoy it more without Dangerfield up forward but not sure if that's really how things played out for him

He did show some promising signs against WCE but also some head against wall moments - is this the week to give a week off managed and see how our the forward line looks with one less forward target?

I wonder if at some stage with Danger we will go:

-35% forward
-35% midfield
-30% bench

So far it's been more like:

-65 to 70% forward
-10 to 15% midfield
-20% bench

More midfield time would mean more bench rest like 2022-2024.

Makes sense. They did try this earlier, against Carlton OHenry was the sub.

There is only room for 3 marking fwds on the field (with 3 smalls from Mannagh, Stengle, Close and Miers). Neale is essential as the tall fwd who can compete against the monster backs in the air (and outrun them on the ground!), Cameron, when on, is well, Jezza, and Danger is, well, Danger, so OH either relieves one of these 3 at times (Neale does some rucking, Danger can go in to the midfield if required) or isn't needed. I still think he is valuable, just a pity his goal kicking is unreliable. What was that round the corner kick on Sunday that went about 25m?

Huge huge game. God I hope we beat them, no, batter them. Was on the assumption Danger was gone until the bye being cautious. Hopefully our trip west fatigue is negated by their wrestle in the wet with the Dockers.
