To think people have been potting Stengle all year.

It's fine to acknowledge that he's had quieter patches goal-wise and has missed some he'd usually kick. But he's been working his butt off offensively and defensively. Stengle's tackling, harassing, creating and hard running have all been at a high level - especially from the Hawthorn game onwards.

It's exactly what you want to see from attacking forwards when they're having a little bit of a dry spell in front of goal. Tom Hawkins was the same back in the day. When he was struggling to kick goals, he got his tackle game up and about and helped his teammates immensely.
Given how much we rely on scores from turnover, having players in the forward line who relentlessly pressure the exit kicks is essential. It's an offensive down payment, of sorts

I'm gonna agree with this.
Hearing that from weeks back the penny might have dropped.
Didn't believe it then but i see some sort of urgency & commitment to a contest to pressure and ultimately putting some body on body interactions on occasions that weren't there previously that give me some hope.
FWIW OH has athletic attributes that others only dream of... Just that area between the ears and will power are the anchor.
So i will take a seat on the fence and just watch for now as i'd like to see a little more and on a consistent basis.
But the difference between his first 7-8 games this season to the last 3 have been encouraging.
He'll be 23 yo shortly with nearly 100 games under his belt.
This is the time to take that next step IMO.

I prefer their alt kits to their home kit, mainly as you can't actually see the logo on the red guernsey - give me the clash kit or pink version

The main problem I have with OH, is that his opponent generally gets quite a few possessions and intercept marks, often not by zoning off, but directly beating OH in the contest..

He certainly would by my #1 option to be 'rested' this week for Dangerfield.

I wonder how close Martin and Retschko are to getting a call up.

Retschko has played 9 VFL games so far, has averaged 21 possessions and a goal a game.. Seems as if he's travelling quite nicely and is probably earned a game over Clarke, Knevitt or Clohesy, all of which have had plenty of opportunities (Clohesy less so) and have failed to impress.

Just because he's a first year player shouldn't hold him back..

Even then, the payback wouldn't be sufficient.

I can forgive GC for stealing Ablett. Any club would've. And Gary obviously had his issues at Geelong that we've all spoken about for years. But I cannot forgive how shit they were for the entirety of Gary's time up there.

You're given the best player the league has ever seen, and your gutless club can't bring itself to be anything more than a laughable bottom-feeder. A stain on the league.

Wasting the prime of Ablett's career like that is something I'll always hold against that plastic franchise.

It's a week of rain starting tomorrow - so while it's nothing crazy it is a welcome to winter for GC

If I was on the MC, one question I'd be asking - this looks similar if not worse conditions compared with our trip to face Port, so do we bring back Dangerfield or hold him back to face Essendon a week later?
