What did bucks say mate?I found his response that "the problem was our contest and pressure" to be a bit disappointing.
It insinuates that we're getting belted because the players aren't trying hard enough.
To me, that's shifting blame & not addressing the real problem - which I think Nathan Buckley articulated beautifully.
But in fairness to Cox, that can't have been an easy press conference to deal with.

CheersThat the Swan's problems are mostly mental.
He said that the 2GF beltings will leave major mental scars among the current group & they just can't get up again.
Also said that the 7 hour review of the GF wasn't a good idea - as it just implanted ever deeper scars.
He went into a lot more depth - but everything he said in the interview made so much sense.
To be fair to coaches, I don't think we did the same review after 2022 and the scarring was there the following year vs the Cats, and re-surfaced again last year. So we tried something different. That the Swan's problems are mostly mental.

In hindsight, the focus on our GF loss and inability to move on has completely messed with the psyche of the team. This has lead the players to lack trust in themselves and each other. The result is the rabble we all saw last week. That the Swan's problems are mostly mental.

Would have a performance clauseCheers
Myself was worried about that and what I kept saying the group was cooked mentally.
Major reason I wasn’t a fan of cox taking over. Maybe should of got a new hole look outlet

Thought Cox performed well in that press conference. Needs to be supported at least this year and next. Trust, loyalty and stability hall been our hallmarks for years. Tried and true virtues.Wowee that female reporter asking all the BF questions god bless her even asked about JUH LOL
It’s called bad managementHorse resigned on November 25
How would the club have interviewed and gone through a coaching selection "process" for the head coach and 4-5 new assistants by the time preseason started in the first week of December?
I mean, our players aren't trying hard enough and that IS the core of the issue. The games we have turned up for with good effort & intensity, we have won, or at least been competitive in, even with our diabolical ball-use. The games we have not, we've been flogged.I found his response that "the problem was our contest and pressure" to be a bit disappointing.

Like your last paragraph. It's obviously not possible, but in other jobs where people are stressed and burnt out, they can go on extended leave to recharge the batteries. Glad we are no chance to make the finals. This should give the players some extra time to heal mentally. Also the coaches.I mean, our players aren't trying hard enough and that IS the core of the issue. It seems to me like the focus is still on one week at a time. Getting the win this weekend to keep the season alive. I know that's not what the fans are focused on. The fans are focusing on overhauling the list and trading in big fish and the academy kids we'll get at the end of the year and the shiny new toy we'll get with a potential top 5 pick. But Cox, and pretty much every coach in the league, would be focused largely on trying to get the win each week while the season is still mathematically alive.
It's why part of me almost hopes the season is killed sooner rather than later, so that we can shift our focus away from the fundamentals needed to get a win in any given game, and more towards a holistic approach to our mental & emotional issues as a club.
Love itChecks thread title.
