Would tell our inside mids to handball at all costs rather than kicking it. Need to get into handballing habit rather than hack kicks. Prefer getting a free kick against for htb than a hack kick leading to a turnover. Handball to the better ball users.

Also FFS man up. Please no spares for the oppo in defence. Fed up with it. Workrate also needs to improve & I think concentration for the entire duration of the game. Too many dumb decisions & lazy plays.

Basically a lot of this is under our control. We keep repeating the same mistakes which is frustrating.

We need to go back to a kicking team

Interesting analysis from Jeff White. He is spot on and what he highlights is the lack of trust our guys have in themselves and each other. Also wonder if the emphasis on the contest by Cox is causing our players to aimlessly swarm at the ball either when its on the ground or in the air and then we have no one available to spread and receive if we win it, or defend on the outside if we don't.

looking at todays photos from training, does mills being in a cap mean he was noncontact? or does it mean nothing

Our zone defence sucks.

If Sheldrick is vulnerable then Cox should stop talking about contested ball and want for the contest as a problem
Not saying I think Sheldrick should be or will be dropped, but Cox has been quite specific in terms of not just wanting to win the clearance and contested numbers, but getting more impact from those wins. Sheldrick butchering the ball is part of that problem (and no, he is not alone.)

That will be scapegoating as he definitely is not alone nor is he the worst.

Funnily enough Heeney has less threatening kicks in the last 5 games than Sheldrick and also Chad has a similar retention rate alongside Rowbottom being well worse than Sheldrick.

I think the thought that Sheldrick is a horrific kick is just used as the root cause of the problem when in actual fact its the underperformance of Chad Rowbottom and Heeney that is more of the problem

I don't disagree. If the three you mention are firing consistently this year then we're a different team. But they also have other strings to their bows.

Heeney's our best marking target around the ground, Warner's our best line-breaker, Rowbottom's our best pressure player. So if they're butchering the ball, they're still at least positively impacting in other ways.

If Sheldrick's butchering the ball, well what else is he offering?

Again - not saying he should be dropped. But he absolutely should be feeling selection pressure each week, and hopefully he takes that and is better for it.

The problem is that the big 3 should be top 5 in our BnF so they should be performing at a higher level than role players which is the current level they are all playing at.

Sheldrick is pretty much outperforming Rowbottom is all categories
