Warner is an elite offensive threat, we have the other guys to do the legwork
I want nothing to do with Warner the bloke drinks his own bathwater. Nothing about him screams team it’s all about him. And quite frankly he’s not that good, kick is horrible he’s selfish and defensively terrible

Wowee, so Kozzy goes from taking home 600k before tax to roughly 800k after tax, congrats to him, thats generational money for him and his family

A large group of us on here found part of the appeal was he was the cheaper option (obviously thought he was an absolute gun too), absolutely crazy how much he has rocketed up this season, even if we take away 10% media fluff, we are still looking at over 1.2m pre tax a season for a small forward, thats wild.

Does make you wonder if clubs are banking on future salary increases in 8 years time to dig themselves out of holes they may get in, I don't know if I'd be banking on that with the sale to DAZN and the changed media landscape for the next broadcast deal.

So with Kozzie out of the picture there’s probably 2 positions I’d like filled by ready made player trades

A gun wing to provide some competition to Sharp - Nick Martin maybe ? ( I do think Chapman , Worner or Wagner could play this role and with Walker due back soon and then Simpson pushing for backline selection one of them probably should )

Definitely need a medium tall forward who pushes up the ground - light on in these stocks it would seem

Any suggestions for the above positions for a start in 2026 ?

AUD as well so it's really **** all. Congratulations Kozzy 😂

Separate issue here but it’s interesting.
Surely these players aren’t paying all that tax without some serious (legal) tax breaks and offsets and negative gearing etc to bring it down as much as possible?

You’d be finding a financial advisor to go full Kerry Packer on it and absolutely minimise the amount of tax that has to be paid on those massive 7 figure salaries

You’d be pretty thick and have a shit manager if you didn’t

Oh yeah, they'd be paying someone to take care of all of that investment wise, those are just rough figures showing how much extra he is earning

as far as loopholes for athletes, I'm pretty sure the ATO shut down the "licensing out their image" one a few years back

They'd still be paying a substantial amount of tax when earning those high amounts

New club speculated yo be after Luke Jackson.

And it was Geelong, how did I never guess that.

(Source was Sam McLure though, probably just looking at click bait and fan outrage).

Good luck to Kozzie. Take the money young man, I cannot fault you for that and you would be doing your family an injustice not to take it.

Viney is broken, Clarry gone, Gawn and May are no spring chickens and well there is Fritsch..
Fritsch to the blues, to replace whichever key they give to the swans.

Those are crazy numbers. Almost double what we’d offer. Can’t be too upset about that
Dees will bleed players at the end of this year as well. We could look into whether there is someone we can get in the fallout.

Carlton had a bit of a Salary Cap rejig at the end of last year and the Bullies ended up with Mat Kennedy for a crappy 2nd rounder. That's the kind of deal we should be looking at.

With all this noise around Jackson it seems clear now he will request a trade and then the ball is in our court as to how we respond.
I expect it’ll be dismissed out of hand but nothing surprises me nowadays.

I don’t think Sammy has got anything right in the last few years.

Needs to go back to crime reporting, he’s certainly stealing a career in footy media.
That’s true but the main point is that there is clearly something in this.
Jackson must still be telling a lot of Vic based people he want to return there or else it wouldn’t still be a story.
That’s a problem for us whether we like it or not

Would love to get Fritsch or maybe Rivers

Surely Jackson is playing the “ bump up my value “ game same as Kozzie was .
The family stuff is interesting but if this is the way players need to leverage themselves then good luck to them

Geelong was mentioned by McLure a couple months back

He put 2 and 2 together with Geelong preferring athletic rucks and Jackson being rumoured to want to go to Vic
So like us with Bont being out of contract, the fact he and his partner have WA connections, and us passing on Warner & Kossie?

Difference is, ours is a pisstake, McClure thinks he's beautiful mind.

Been told it’s done.
Don't blame him, I'd deal with being home sick and then some for that kind of cash, it's not like he's leaving the country either.

That's a huge investment for Melbourne though, this deal would put Kozzie in the highest paid players of all time bracket.
Happy to use the Kozzie capital to retain talent already at the club, and ultimately if it was Jackson for Kozzie or nothing, this is the better outcome.
