I actually thought Berry showed a lot more today playing up forward. He didn’t get on the scoreboard, but he displayed some speed and class. So how alarming is Berry’s lack of form?
I poise the question once again, can Benny Barrett play as a small lockdown defender?
Normally you’d assume a small forward plays up forward but not always at Port.I actually thought Berry showed a lot more today playing up forward. He didn’t get on the scoreboard, but he displayed some speed and class.
Also, I really don’t understand this idea of moving Barrett to the backline. He's the shortest player on our list and has shown absolutely no lockdown ability. His best moments so far have been crumbing off the pack and kicking opportunistic small forward goals.
Mackinlay was better later in game, Whitlock quiet, missed sitter, but moved behind ball late in game and took some really strong game saving marks, Moraes bog , just ran and linked all game. And has Mackinlay been missing gettable shots?

Likely trying to improve his defensive efforts. Important trait in a small forward these days.I actually thought Berry showed a lot more today playing up forward. He didn’t get on the scoreboard, but he displayed some speed and class.

I remember all the magarey medal counts, particularly when Russell won 1980 and polled 49 votes when we went to 2 umpires and both umps' votes were counted. He was calling our R Ebert continuously. Suck sh*t Max.Even when he smiled he looked evil.
The chess pieces were radically moved in the last, even Whitlock was in defence.Normally you’d assume a small forward plays up forward but not always at Port.
Someone said he did take a good mark back there so that was something. The chess pieces were radically moved in the last, even Whitlock was in defence.
Very good thisI am not sure why we are complaining about the free kick count. Woodville 15, West Torrens 16 and Port 17

How do we know its a lack of form. Might just be his level. Just doesn't appear to have any ability to read the play well enough, any tricks, or any ability to create separation in the forward half.So how alarming is Berry’s lack of form?

No, he played all day.So lord had 3 touches in the two’s? Did he get injured in the first quarter or something?
Yeah, Berry looks like a wingman to me. I thought he had some good moments using his pace todayHow do we know its a lack of form. Might just be his level. Just doesn't appear to have any ability to read the play well enough, any tricks, or any ability to create separation in the forward half.
Ive said it before and will again, he needs to move up the ground to wing.
Will be better out in space where he can use speed and that kick.
Is his shoulder an issue? Noticed his one arm attempts at marking on a few occasions today. No, he played all day.

He took 2 really strong defensive marks in the last couple of minutes of the game to snuff out the pecker's attempt to pinch the game. I like him. He's looked as good as any 200cm forward in his first year on our list that I can rememberSomeone said he did take a good mark back there so that was something.
Lord has averaged 8 touches a SANFL game his whole time with us, and generally 3-4 of them would come from random grabs around the ground. Add wet weather and the inability to take those grabs and the performance probably wasn't unexpected. Still kicked 2 and competed. The Eagles also ran huge numbers back, with a very solid group of tall backs. Is his shoulder an issue? Noticed his one arm attempts at marking on a few occasions today.
Shit that’s not good. No, he played all day.
To be fair to Berry and a lot of these kids who get drafted they have never played against men it’s a huge step up from playing U18’s or school football. How do we know its a lack of form. Might just be his level. Just doesn't appear to have any ability to read the play well enough, any tricks, or any ability to create separation in the forward half.

Will be better out in space where he can use speed and that kick. He looks a smooth mover but isnt getting the opportunity to display that up forward.
Marshall has really improved this year and has bulked up. Id be ok with adding him to the squad. This has been mentioned before but I wonder if Kyle Marshall might get another look in. He's added some size and has been a handy tall defender this year.
Club's best:
Best: Williams, Watkins, Moraes, Lai, Mackinlay, Marshall.
