Don’t get me wrong I’m not having a shot at Wright but I think we can overstate how much of an impact he can actually have.
Since Hawthorns three peat they made plenty of mistakes and at Collingwood he was probably only there for the recruiting of a couple of role players.

Absolutely nailed the coach. But in terms of the list very little needed to be done. Maybe that was where he was ahead of everyone at the time who thought they needed a rebuild. Maybe it was luck and the re building on the run at Hawthorn is closer to what you can expect.

He gets to at footy. Run around outside. Trains near down the coast. I reckon he'd be quite happy not being in the cauldron of being a Carlton player.

Shipping Grundy and bringing in Premiership players Hill (Norm Smith), Mitchell and Frampton as well as McStay who only missed due to getting injured in the prelim in one offseason immediately prior to winning the flag is more than “very little” I would say.

St Kilda have offered massive FA contracts at a lot of players at different clubs. They have heap of cap space to spend because their list is no good.

Can see DeKoning going to St Kilda and playing out his career in a bottom side and being blamed for it. They have a fairly ordinary list, they really do suck and I can't see having players on record money being good for a club's list.

Unless Saints can amazingly front load his contract, I would not want my club to be doing something like this.

Best thing for us is for us to go into next season with a good key forward and a good ruckman and be down a couple of players with a number of first round picks coming our way. That or we retain who we already have and are able to build around that.

Our list management could get very very interesting and buis should Lemmy and O'Keefe really come on.

I feel there is absolutely an element of what you suggest.

We regularly hear offers to retain players early in season, but rarely a specific offer to an oppo player so far out. Any list manager worth his salt would make an ambit offer to test the waters, then up the ante as decision time comes closer.

It is either mischievous or SOS expected Tom to re sign early, thus going for the jugular. TDK is a solid list piece, but anything a million or above is overs. To go straight to 1.7 per year is quite outlandish. He has had a decent year, but realistically is behind at least a handful of quality rucks. Tom remains more potential than performance

TDK hasn’t proven a consistent match winner for Carlton.
He hasn’t even finished top 5 in the B&F yet Silvagni is offering an all time record amount for a RUCKMAN … something no other list manager would contemplate …
