I don’t mind the tagging role done well, but pinching, gut punches and kneeing should at least warrant attention from the tribunal. It’s not a good look, like tripping, kicking and spitting.
Spot on.
Their disgusting slug of a coach even had the balls to question the free kicks Nick got.
St Kilda are, and will always be, a shit stain on the competition.

Was a truly bizarre comment given Nick did get the soft gut slap free (but fair as ump doesn’t want the game to start that way) but Nick also got penalised for a very soft push in the back post tackle which the taggers do essentially at every opportunity. Think Ross realised the tagging tactics were a big L for the day and was looking for excuses.

Lyon should be fined by the AFL for bringing the game into disrepute

That bit where Nick ‘gave him a bit to go on with’ in the tackle happens to Nick every time he’s tackled yet the umpire didn’t like the optic of Nick doing it?

Yep was right in front of the ump so Nick has to be smarter as there’s a tacit understand that as long as you play clean the ump will whistle against the tagger but if you engage you will not get the 50/50.

Suspect that’s what Fly was referring to in telling Nick not to engage in that tactics and let others do it instead.

Moore and Lipinski were so good in the third as we were getting challenged. The squad has depth alright.
I missed the last quarter and Lipinski’s impact late, but as one of his bigger fans on here I’m glad he got into a groove in the second half. That goal in particular was huge because it came just as St Kilda had opened us up and was less than half a chance. With his ball use he has the ability to make stuff like that happen which in a big game can be crucial. He just needs to find a way to scrounge an impact when he’s being well held.

Stephen Baker copped 12 weeks in 2010 after Ross Lyon sent him out to do a job on Stevie Johnson…. Repeated punches meant multiple charges and then a loading for past sins on top of that.

Probably cost them a premiership because by the time he was back for finals he was massively underdone.

Oh the good old days….

I’ve never seen Jordon, Bedford, Bergman etc do that to anyone that they’re tagging

I don’t think Windy even did that to Bont last week

It’s simply lack of respect.

Nick lives rent free in the heads of opposition players and coaches to the point they have convinced themselves he is soft and vulnerable to physical pressure. .

Good comfortable win. Saints are pretty ordinary, but were okay last night. Thought Lipinski was really influential and almost best on.

AFL needs to sort out the tagging tactics. There is a right and wrong way to do it and the past few weeks have been way too far on that wrong side. The code needs the best players given the best opportunities to play their best and not be subject to anti-football and dog acts like we’ve seen.

.... errrr don't think Ross gives a flyer what you think?

Seriously guys! If you have a problem with the funniest pressers in football - you clearly have no humour in your life.

It's unAustralian to bag Ross's pressers! I as a proud Collingwood supporter declare "I love them! Ross is hilarious!"
Just like I don’t care what you think?

I won’t rehash what others have already said, but glad to get the win.

Bobby looked notably crapped off with Membrey when Membrey plucked that last mark and kicked the goal. I get the sense Bobby was aware of having a nondescript game.

I’ve been critical of Allan recently not committing his body, but he was low-key much improved last night. He put himself in danger when he had to, and decision making looked faster than I’ve seen from him before.

Both Darcys, Perryman, Lipinski and Daicoses were tremendous.

A combination of a Lyon type slogfest and post bye lethargy meant our boys took a while to get into gear, but, as good teams do, they put it together when it counted.
At least we didn't let them get off to a flyer.

Lippa showed why we missed him against Melbourne - a great game from him.
DC continued his rich vein of form - sign him up!
DM was bloody good, and our old codgers continue to get the job done.
Nick was terrific, despite the dirty tag job, and Josh was pretty good too.
Beau looked set for a blinder until his injury - bugger!
It was nice for Skunk to get a couple against his old side - suck on that!
We had plenty of quiet players, so it was a very good win in the end.

Given the scum and Geelong both lost, and our VFL side won courtesy of a Charlie West after the siren goal, it was pretty much a perfect day of footy.

I suspect Westy will come in next week, and one of Checkers or Skunk might get, dare I say it, a rest.

Go Pies!!!

Pendles has just gotten better and better as the season has gone on a true marvel
Each game I grow more and more confident he will break that total games record next season, of which many including myself thought would've been near impossible just a couple seasons ago

If they take the stance that they don't want to see it in junior footy, then:

1) memo to clubs;

2) pay more frees;

3) call elements bringing the game into disrepute & start fining them.

(On a related note, looking fwd to Bruzz getting back out there...).

Nick’s perfect tackle and a free kick to Windhager.

Imagine knowing you are lining up on a kid destined to be one of the greatest players the game has seen, and having to basically do whatever you can get away with illegally because you’re not in the same stratosphere.

Still hearing Lyon say Langdon beat Daicos is ridiculous. Langdon with 4 touches, while Daicos had 19, 8 clearances and a goal. So which player had the greater impact on the game??

McCreery looked amazing for the 10 minutes he played. I suspect Schultz comes in for him.

We basically played 1 short for 3.5 quarters.

These 'tagging' tactics that Windhager, Langdon, Berry have used on Daicos makes the AFL as a professional sport look like a 'thuggish' code from the backwaters of the world.... which many actually think it is.

It actually 'brings the game in disrepute' because no credible sporting code in 2025 would allow their stars to be subject to constant harassment, kneeing, holding, pinching, slapping for the 2 hours they are there to play the game.

AFL commission should decide what kind of image they want their sport painted in? Imagine Windhager doing that to you while you were trying to do your job? How would you respond? How would Laura Kane and Andrew Dillon like being kneed, held, pinched and slapped while working?

What's even more embarrassing is that not 1 of the 4 field umpires did anything to stop it! And so by not acting to stop it, they are effectively condoning this behaviour in our sport.

Seriously amateurish competition. No leadership. No understanding of game's best interests. It's 2025, not 1975, get real AFL and protect your brand.

What chance does AFL as a sport have of being accepted and adopted nationally, let alone internationally when parents see this as 'part of the game' on T.V.? Seriously backwards man. It's 2025.

Mindset of even some Media commentators is pretty backwards. Calling it 'niggling' or fair.... I call that B.S. No player should have the right to impede or hold another without the ball. Simple as that. If they do, send them off the field. It would stop it pretty quickly.
