JOM as a sub is perfectly fine IMO. You're still backing in the younger incumbents.
Pretty much.

Gonna be a tough match. Heeney/Warner/Gulden/Papley/Blakey all have the potential to give us serious headaches but I think a wet slog will definitely favour us*. Hope we're feeling vengeful after the slop we served up in round 2.

*altho it looks like it'll be sunny which is also fine

Jackson/Serong/Brayshaw/Clark/Bolton/Treacy all have the potential to do the same

Think JOM is still in our top 25-26 players, possibly best 22 tbh.

For a run towards finals you select your players in that group over guys that aren't.

They a group 30-odd win you a flag but that's over a season. Feel a group of 25-26 that are mostly really primed to perform at the top level is probably what is needed to actually do well into the last two weeks of finals. Of course you still need your Oscar McDonald types just in a case a specific type of player is injured but I think otherwise 25-26 is enough.

I'm no fan of JOM but if he's coming in to be sub then I'm ok with that.

But if they're trying to bring him in to tag for a whole game when he's lacking match fitness and pulled up sore enough from a WAFL intensity game to miss yet another week... well, I think that's asking for trouble.

That doesn't sound like a good prep for trying to run with a star AFL mid for a whole game.

JOM is a better player than Ras.
JOM was one of our best players when we played Sydney in Round 2 and was the leading possession winner on the ground with 32 and got 5 Coaches votes.

He was in reasonably good form before getting injured.

They must think he is ready to play and adds some experience to the team.

TBH, with Brodie injured, I don’t have a problem with JOM being in the team - even if he is only 184cm. However, I am still disappointed for Brodie. If he had been selected for Freo v Ess in round 15 - instead of Aish/Fyfe - and hadn’t played for Peel and got concussed, then who knows he might still be in the team.

The player I would have liked in the team this week is Narkle. Talking about class above, and rewarding WAFL form, he has been playing really well for Peel and looks fit.

And Mills running through there as well.

I reckon we match up well on them and will give them trouble.

Definately the hardest match to pick of the round.

The 184cm is the thing. He’s not a big body, he’s a small slow midfielder, which is an awful fit next to S and B. He’s not bad but he is a bad fit and our midfield has been way better sonce he has been out

If JOM is sub it’s probably OK , if they’re thinking of tagging Heeny with him I’m getting on Heeny for 4+

Fyfe did OK on him last year because he was 80% mid , he’s pushing fwd a lot more this year

Heeny vs JOM inside the D50 ? NOooooooo

He is playing on the outside.

I think he is 25th to 30th on our list but still a handy depth player. Was very good early and plays a lot outside, I would say a very team oriented role.

Not playing as inside mid, so not competing with Brodie. Who takes his spot?

We do need more outside mids.
