The experienced Serpell was most recently the Strength and Conditioning Coach at Geelong, having joined the Club in November 2021.

Geelong won the 2022 premiership in his first season, with Serpell playing an important off-field role. He has remained at the Cats for the past two seasons.

Before Geelong, Serpell was the Wallabies Athletic Performance Coach, helping Australia’s National Rugby Union team to an international series victory against France.

Serpell also spearheaded the strategic restructure of the NSW Waratahs’ High-Performance Department as their Head of Performance.

A strong data-driven decision-maker, Serpell is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of New England and contributes to internationally peer-reviewed journals in sports science.

Serpell also worked at the Australian Institute of Sport, University of Canberra, and, for seven years, Brumbies Rugby.

Back in 2010, Serpell was the Strength and Conditioning Coach at Port Adelaide in the AFL, which was his first professional sporting role in Australia after he had previously spent two and a half years at Gloucester Rugby in the United Kingdom.

Perhaps he knows more about it than those on BigFooty... Didn't hear anyone at the Cats complaining... The crap that is written on here sometimes...
Hmm who does he report to , twas at my local club recently thought I’d pass on some complimentary feedback that the kitchen seems to have improved as previously most regarded as nursing home qty

kind of a new chef ,the boss got the flick and one of the cooks got a promotion,,, so clearly this talented cook was being held back, maybe serpells is being held back ,,,, irregardless as shawry would say , a review is needed

That could be the case. Wouldn’t hurt them to get some reps in the VfL this year, come back in peak form next. Most of the first year players didn’t get any AFL pre season, Lalor hasn’t had any pre season, not an ideal way to start.
Maybe but the VFL is any easier to play than the AFL especially the crap grounds they have to play on. It's a no-win situation. Play them and hope for the best, or don't play them and hope for the best. You would also think the bigger blokes would be more of a risk doing soft tissue injuries than shorter ones but yet they are holding up.

You’re not wrong. It’s probably unavoidable with some of the boys. I’ll stand by my first statement though, that he’s done great with the older boys, if he can help Prestia and lynch stay on the prk, I’m going to back them to get the young guys right

Carnt believe there is still people defending this guy but im guessing they are rfc social media plants .

Unfortunately, a combination of genetics, mechanism and management come into play. Some players are just far more susceptible to soft tissue injury, no matter the preparation.

A big part of the injuries we've had, are coming from players who had interrupted or next to no pre-season.

This is just as bad as last year because all our kids that are meant to be the future of the club have been butchered with countless soft tissue injuries. These injuries have stalled our rebuild by a year and who knows what impact it's had on future seasons.

After last years debacle we should've hired a proven head AFL performance guy from another club with big $$$. Serpell was only the strength coach at Geelong and we gave him a promotion.

Said before, like previousl, Meehan was getting blamed and now Serpell. Their job is to get them fit, their not doctors. It's a combined effort, so somewhere along the line it's failing. Ok, swapped fitness trainers, now we know that's not the problem. Stop blaming one person.

Serpell made Max Holmes do 2 hamstrings in finals, hasn't even waited that long with our highly talented kids.

We needed a hamstrings trainer. Not a hamstring strainer. Someone put the s in the wrong place in the advert. Gagf whoever wrote that job advert.
The serpent wasn't the big dog at Geelong
