Do they have "STAND" rule?
So without much thought we have 5 other sports where players have to stand in a stationary position while an action is performed.

Imagine how beautiful the flow of these sports would be if everyone could instead shuffle back and forward, side to side at ALL times. Alas, such a Utopian reality is beyond our reach.

They can move their feet though without being screamed at .
It is rare and the AFL rule is the rareist and most unusual of all. All cooked up by Stephen Hocking when he took LSD one night.

Confidential report on relocation of Richmond to Tasmania
We'll relocate to Tassie the day after you guys totally fill Kardinia Park.

My nephew tried to get a ticket to the Cats v Tigers the other week - "sold out" sign up for the 40,000 seat stadium. Official attendance just over 31,000.

Somehow haven't worked out that counting of the people that have two or more memberships (I know one bloke who has four), the ones in Chin Chin who have to have reserved seat to get in etc etc. isn't a great plan.

Your poor nephew, missing out on a chance to watch Geelong train.

I've never got the anti Richmond sentiment for introducing stand rule.

I always thought it was introduced because field umpires had no depth perception working on what was sideways versus forwards.

Issue I have is the chocolate wheel enforcement of it and the spin a prize 50 metre penalties handed out.

They made an old lack of enforcement issue into a grey judgement area causing more problems.

Funnily enough that rule was bought in to combat Blicavs around the ruck.
Oh I’m not buying into the whether the changes are pro or anti Geelong. More just what changes I think are dumb. I have no issue if man on mark wants to move sideways or back as long as not over the mark/ forward of the mark

Only someone who has no real sense for the game would have an issue with that, exactly.

SHocking is proof that you can play the game but not really understand it.

Glad that Cornes has come out again and called STAND the stupidest rule in the history of the game .

Hard to disagree, no other rule change comes close.

Stand is the only one of those I’d junk.
Was he also in charge when Rick nomination/ no more 3rd man up came in? That’s another stupid one (waiting for rucks to nominate)

It's not like the Stand rule was the first stupid rule change they brought in - it'd been happening for some time.

It's comfortably the worst though.

but that's the issue with conflict of interest

you can swear till blue in the face that you weren't influenced, it's irrelevant

it's the perception of CoI that kills you

Shocking will be forever tainted by that

Everybody involved in the league has conflict of interest. They wouldn’t be involved in the league if they didn’t.

By Richmond supporters who genuinely believe their team's demise post 2020 was because of rule changes by the AFL, and not natural attrition and the fact the game had moved on
