Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Loving all the rumours and passion shown.

Some on here think they are the self-anointed guru, others are just plain angry. I'm in the latter grouping.

Angry that we are perennial under-achievers.
Angry that our leaders are anything but leaders - never lead, never show aggression, never stand up for their team-mates.
Angry that we have so many conditional footballers.
Angry that our skills are the worst in the league.
And finally, so angry that this group continues to let us down.

The club has a lot of work to do to win our trust back.

I have no issues if the rumours are true and we are culling the list. I want Wright to go hard, because the group of senior players we have are not taking us to the promised land.
  • Doc retiring is sad but perfect timing
  • McGovern is a conditional footballer - move him on
  • Saad has been just ok the last two years - if he's over it, retire with our best wishes
  • Cincotta gives his all but is depth only
  • Boyd - see above
  • Young is depth only
  • Motlop is borderline best 23 - would not be in any of the top 8 best 23's
  • Kemp - see above
  • Monahan - not up to VFL standard
Durdin and Fogarty would be on this list, but are contracted for another year..

If JSOS holds the club to ransom for extra years/dollars - let him go. I love him and think he's played his best footy at CHB this year, but we can't be held ransom any more.

Doc - we love you. You are a stalwart and deserving of a great send off. I will be cheering you on.

Unfortunately the club has held JSOS to ransom for most of his career and he’s been on pretty much base salary - he’s got one major opportunity left for a pay day - I think (unfortunately for the Silvagni/Carlton legacy - and I’m referring to his grandfather and not his father) he’s going to take it. 😞

And so he should!

He was always going to be a defender but as usual our ‘football’ people had no vision to play him there..

I think he will get his money at Carlton in the end…

How much better would we feel if we cheer when we make a mistake and boo when we do something good? It's all perspective.

I hope so - both for his sake and for respect to his grandfather’s legacy.

And it won’t hurt our team’s defensive structure either. 😉

We all love Jack but he has played 29 games in 3 years. He has been injured 3 times this year. He has played half a dozen good games as a back man. 5 years at 800K is a big call.

Love ya work JaB
I just can't understand coming at Crippa like some have
In general I find it hard to understand how quick supporters can be to want our players out the door. Some of whom have given so much over the years. Why don't we cut them some slack and maybe realise there are reasons for what has been going on?
To just fall into using words like 'lazy' and entitled' and 'selfish' - how would we know that?
Then there's calling players soft...basically a whole sub text of 'this is woke entitled behaviour' that others use when really only guessing what has happened to cause our onfield decline.

I can't support that. Some can't cop that it may be coach/coaches - footy dept - culture embedded in club. What starts it?

A post whacking Crippa was what caused me to speak up today. I don't expect all to agree on that, but a few I'm quite shocked to see are thinking that way.

On another topic,
I see more newbs or otherwise signing on in a flurry.
Maybe journo rumour season in full swing.

Come writers and critics who prophesise with your pens
And keep your eyes wide the chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon for the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellling who that it's naming.
For the loser now will be later to win...

If we kick the pumped up cows arse through the 2 big lumps of wood more than the other lot, it will go a long way towards us winning the game.

Proven Footy Rocket Science!!!

Baggers by 50, get on it.😎👍
My word you understand this game like no other....

And more importantly, what's on the menu tonight?

So we have now sunken to the level of Fantasia would have made a difference to our side
Yes you read right!!!

A fit and firing Fantasia along with Cotters and Elijah would have given our forwards good delivery and all have factors which would change the dynamic of our sluggish contested ball movement with long bombs down the line and into a congested forward line.

Each of those players whether through sheer work rate, agility, speed and ball use would make a difference.

In the same way Jack Martin had the capacity to change the dynamic had he been fit often enough.

Their inability to play this year meant we relied on White, Fogarty, Evans, F Young and even Acres to play the high half forward role which has been sub par to say the least.

It’s not just a single player but their attributes contributing to the system that makes a difference. If you have 2 or 3 guys who are footy smart in the role teams would struggle defensively to manage them all.

Of course it didn’t pan out but that’s why they are in the squad, and finally continuity in roles and players reliably playing the system is paramount.

Dude - ****ing chill out.

Yes, a fit Fantasia would have made a difference to our side. One of our biggest issues is connectivity from mid to forward, and that is something he nails more often than not.

Would it have pushed us into the 8, or the 4 - probably not but who knows. We likely need more than one player to address that issue. But it's pretty damn poor to say that someone acknowledging that, if not for injury, Fanta would have been a handy player for us is sinking to some new low.

You know what - I've long defended Lochie, you know that. I'd take a fit Fanta over Lochie.
Mmm always interested when a post is edited by a mod!!!!!!

Meh. Just sounds like more excuses to me

Dylan was a pretty strong advocate for change, maybe he’s on here somewhere making “sakc Voss” posts

How good a payday in cash and years?

Mmm always interested when a post is edited by a mod!!!!!! I'm going to put my tutu on, and perform the Nutcracker Suite before I ponder this some more.

We don't edit posts.

Welcome aboard, you foolish, foolish individual! You were free, but now you're caught in the block hole and you'll never escape.

I think what you've suggested has merit, but I'll offer a counter to one point:

"Star forwards generally play their best footy in the twilight of their careers. This is because it takes time to nurture, develop and make a man out of them."

The examples you've gone on to list include one consistently elite KPP in Cameron, and two talented but injury-prone KPPs who moved clubs and were able to get their bodies right in a new program/environment.

I think there's a danger in assuming that the latter two wouldn't have continued their previous trend of missing games had they remained where they were. And I think that if we're talking about players coming good at another club later in their careers, that can also at times be attributed to the change in environment rather than just the passing of time.

I think Charlie has some very good footy ahead of him. But if he's not committed here, and we force him to say, there's no guarantee his efforts on field meet the requirements. If he moves, we'll end up lamenting how he goes on to kick 70 goals a year at GC or some such, but that performance would likely stem from being in a new club, needing to impress new coaches and teammates, being in an environment with less pressure, playing ahead of midfielders who can hit a target etc.

The sliding doors principle applies. Whatever happens, one cannot assume the same would have happened in a different setting.
Thanks Blue Balls :embarrassedv1:

I agree and understand the other side of the coin with this situation. I was also going write about the flip side but the fact that it was my first post (and already too long), I just stuck to throwing Charlie some love. Go Blues

I understand your POV I’m just pointing out the mindset of why these players are on the list. I know you want Voss gone and I also see the fundamental issues with our structure and game plan which I place directly on the coaches.

However injuries, player availability and mindset are also factors in performance and can’t be ignored, as is often stated every team needs some luck along the way.

Intriguing.

Not so much the St Kilda bit - I don't think they even can submit the offer to the AFL until the Free Agency period kicks off. Though there is presumably the lingering concern for TDK that they may revise their offer between now and then, which might be why even if he was leaning towards going he wouldn't reveal it publicly.

Have to say, I do worry that even if the "extra" we offer is by way of post-footy opportunities, the money we've apparently tabled is still more than I'd feel comfortable committing to a bloke who hasn't even put together a dominant 4 quarters, let alone a season.
Isn't there a marketing allowance in or coming in, which enables a couple of players from each club to be paid outside the cap? These players do promotional work for the AFL etc.
TDK could be one of our reps??

I’m just amazed how players seem to be much better players when they are missing

How many times has Cottrell Elijah or Fanatsia made a real differnce to our side or results over last 2 years?
