That's not particularly a hot take. Those films have been for so long. The last good one must have been The Other Guy.

Those type of movies are some sort of tax write off, money launder lol

My hot take is Nolan's new film The Odyssey will be bad. Seen the teaser and it looks like a parody scene from Tropic Thunder

The Fall Guy was good… straddled the action comedy line quite well. But not enough people went to see it.
I don't think this is a hot take

But maybe it's a movie more for our generation

Glenn Powell is about as appealing as dentist visits!
I do think Hollywood are trying a little too hard to force him to be a leading man.

He was perfectly cast in Top Gun Maverick as the smug antagonist bro.

Running Man will be a good test to see if he can carry an action movie with a decent director.

My partner disagrees haha, reckons he's a cheese merchant.

Although she softened during Twisters

Have only just stumbled upon this thread... And I'm here for it.

Dunno if this has been covered before (or perhaps I am genuinely the only person who thinks it).

Seinfeld is one of the most appalling and un-funny TV shows ever made. I would get more of a laugh trying to give myself a circumcision.

It's not supposed to be funny in a literal sense. It's dry humour, and it's satirical. What I love about Seinfeld and I didn't always feel this way in my younger years is that some of the running gags that an entire episode is based on is exactly what we've thought at some point in time or another.

I actually reckon your right in terms of a bad heist movie being truly shit.

Good ones though, as good as anything.
So can you give me a top 5 of heist movies that aren't meta, or contrived pieces of garbage? Rick and Morty did an episode on this.

I feel like most heist movies just follow a bland predictable script.

Assemble a crew
Do bad shit
Romantic interest
Get crossed
overcome getting crossed
Win

I just asked AI and it suggested Heat, (Seen the first 30 minutes and got bored)

Inside Man, really good movie but not the heists I'm referring to
Fish Called Wanda Never seen
Hell or high water haven't seen.

I'm more referring to the Oceans bullshit.

I mean you can argue that basically every genre follows some form of bland predictability, the whole "universal story" model etc. How far you personally think every genre movie ever derives from the basic beats is subjective.

Yeh so this is gonna be a pointless exercise. Heat is as good a technical film making exercise as there is. Not liking it is a hot take as it is.

Inside Man is a heist flick, its literally about a bank robbery.

The Town, Jackie Brown, Usual Suspects, Logan Lucky, Oceans, Dog Day, Inception. You could argue Die Hard was a heist movie too.

I love satire as much as anyone, but the show was just absolute poo. I think they've got it spot on, it's a show about nothing... And nothing aint funny.
