Re: Power Youtube videos.........add your favourites

I saw about 6-7 pictures that I took from the Heritage Round training session in that video. Good work!

Re: Power Youtube videos.........add your favourites

Yeah, i realised that when i checked out the makers youtube profile. He's 14.

yea-scotty is a Brisbanite and a regular on tpfp---says he became a Port fan coz of our club's 'teal' color and the noise our supporter's made at the Gabba in 2001! :thumbsu:

Just something I stumbled across this evening and thought was worth sharing.

Interesting take from an American tourist.

This video was put together by a 14 year old Port supporter in Brisbane. Scotty visits the TPFP site and has made a couple of trips over to Big footy. I asked him why he supported Port as he grew up in Brisbane and his family isn't from SA. He responded in 2 parts.

"meh involved not liking the lions (as lack of passion by their supporters) and Port Adelaide looked like they had massive passionate supporters whilst Teal (yes i repeat teal) looks great on a football team, and i already knew the heritage behind Port and what a great club it is.

To me really it was like comparing Broccoli to Chocolate!"

and

"My dad took me to a few games in 2000 but didn't really pick up on it.

in 2001 we went to Melbourne n went to rnd 2 n 3, both games were Brisbane V Richmond n then Bulldogs at the MCG n Dome (was coloniel then)

Then in Brisbane we went to alot of other games of 2001. Then in one of the finals v Port the port supporters were massively loud (which i guess helped me like Port)

Then we got season tickets in 02 n 03 and started becoming addicted.

Then in 04 GF was a good day. Walking around with my Port jersey on . And waving my flag in front of 20 ppl's faces whilst watching the Brisbane get smashed. And no body knew i was a port supporter until free dress day at school in yr 7 in 2004 in October."

Food for though for our marketing people. Well done Scotty.

Re: Power Youtube videos.........add your favourites

Great work by Scotty.

I've heard that John Schumann song regularly at the footy but never really picked up on the words properly. I just assumed it was any old song that was being used.

That sort of thing is important for adding to the history and aura around the club. :thumbsu:

Re: Power Youtube videos.........add your favourites

That video is something. It makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Captures all things Port Adelaide.

I love the line that goes " We were there at the beginning, we'll be there at the end "

Definitely. It (unfortunately) says something for the 'geniuses' in our marketing department when a 14 year old can do a better job of showing how to embrace the past whilst not being shackled with it, then our 'Ssshh, don't mention the Magpies, I think I did once, but got away with it' guys at the club who (give the impression of trying to) avoid everything pre-1997 unless they are forced to.

From John Schumann's website. Only the chorus has been changed to his 2002 One True Game song. I remember he launched it on The Footy Show and thought what a great footy song. Whenever I returned to SA and listened to the start of MMM's footy coverage they always play the chorus as part of their intro music. I love the lines 100,000 voices and a million shining eyes, this is our country's one true game.

One True Game
I'm truckie, I'm a wharfie,
I'm the girl who cuts your hair;
I'm a mother, I'm a father,
I'm the old man over there.
And Friday night to Sunday,
We lay it all aside -
And arm to arm and heart to heart we raise this mighty cry…

100,000 voices and a million shining eyes
This is our country's one true game
And the footy ground's on fire
And Australia's sons and daughters, under wide Australian skies
Win or lose, we're back again, to claim the winner's prize…

We were here at the beginning
And we'll be here at the end,
Running with a three goal breeze
Or kicking against the wind.
It's more than just a game to us,
You're more than just a team
And when the final siren goes, we'll show you what we mean …

Life's a game of footy
And it never goes to plan
You can run into the empty space
Try to throw your tag…
You've got both eyes on the scoreboard
As you're running for the ball
And you feel your heart is bursting and you're just about to fall … you hear

100,000 voices and a million shining eyes
This is our country's one true game
And the footy ground's on fire
And Australia's sons and daughters, under wide Australian skies
Win or lose, we're back again, to claim the winner's prize…

The new chorus is;

Power to the people and power to the game,
Power to Port Adelaide, it's where we get our name.
And Alberton sons and daughters, under South Australian skies,
Win or lose, we're back again, to claim the winner's prize.

Re: Power Youtube videos.........add your favourites

Good on you mate. :thumbsu:

That you were brought up in Brizzy and barack for Port is classic. :D

one way to pi$$ your dad off is to like league, then he gets me to get into AFL takes me to lots of Lions games. Becoming a Port supporter and start to find league boring :p
