The past two weeks - Newcombe and Tom Stewart provide evidence that the Bruz decision was the right one regardless of the rule change.

In hindsight it’s easy to say but I think we flirted with our form at the selection table and paid the penalty with close losses to GC and Freo.
If we had won those two games, then we could’ve started to think about resting players or manage time up til the pre-finals bye.

Thanks to my fellow fans here. I was devastated after the game last night, and really started an endless mental loop returning to the same dark idea: there is no way we recover from such a catastrophic performance.

But several posters here have made absolutely magnificent posts, which are not just based on wishful thinking, but provide evidence based arguments as to why we should not get on the train of despair just yet. After reading these posts, I have come away feeling much less despondent.

Thanks in particular to Pete70 and Upnsmoke for such reasoned posts, which then had the effect of uplifting much of the ensuing discussion.

Whatever one thinks of the incident where Newscum collides with Jezza and concusses him (whether it was reportable or not), the image i will never forget is that ugly little creep jogging off the ground with a smug smile on his face after his opponent was stretchered off the ground.
For that alone he should be suspended.

Different incidents, yes, but can you imagine the outrage on social media from all oppo supporters if Bruzzy had made that tackle on one of their players resulting in concussion?

They most definitely would not be seeing it the way they are seeing the Newcombe/Howe incident.
