It's 5 at minimum and I wouldnt be surprised if it was 6 or 7 to really make an example.

I don't like that all these tribunal decisions in general are resulting in more and more suspensions. Its just expanding their power to influence the game as a result of what one player does. Then you have umpires getting more and more involved in decisions.

I think a fine is the way to go. Make it substantial enough to deter them. As for say, rough conduct stuff, I'd prefer a red card and a fine than all this theatre about how many weeks. Unless its really bad.

But the AFL media circus love it. They're salivating over this Rankine thing, probably brings in a lot of the non AFL brigade for various reasons.

I remember thinking a few years that the fines given to some players based on their income was inconsequential. Perhaps fines should be a set % of a players income as opposed to a set monetary value?

It's about trying to create a safe environment for everyone regardless of your race or preferences.

I don't understand why people get upset about this.

If I was gay, I would be concerned about coming out to my mates or football club, concerned that I would be ridiculed. If I did share with my footy club that I was gay, and they showed me that they had my back by say "wearing rainbow socks" or whatever, that would make me feel accepted. It symbolic but it's the purpose behind it.

Like any hardship, footy clubs can be a great support. Health issues, family issues etc...footy clubs and mateship put on rallies and make you feel supported.

There's no openly gay player, so clearly it still feels unsafe to do it (and with people using slurs, it's not a surprise) so that why we have a pride game. To say to our mates exactly what you've just said "we don't care who you have sex with" and we will back you.

I think there are too many themed rounds, every game becoming this cup, and award for every game. Don't mind indigenous or Rivalry round, but don't see the point in the others. Including Gather Round, unless the idea is to rotate states.
