Seriously, I've seen first hand and from others also, cop warnings and/or suspension for far FAR less than what quite a few of these people here have been doing just today. Thats the problem you have with drafting interstate players, you have to pay more to keep them if the teams in his home state come knocking. The same will be true of Harley Reid as well. Meanwhile, the Crows re-signed Thilthorpe for probably 800k a year when he would easily get 1.8 million a year if he put himself on the open market, maybe even more if a team is willing to pay TDK for 1.7-1.8 million a year, and he isnt a quarter of the player Thilthorpe is.

We are all in that same situation with our interstate recruits. I imagine we are going to have a fun time in this same forum when Worrell, Keane, Rachele and Soligo all come up for contract renewals.

Apparently he doesn’t have a gf, and these guys tend to live in a bubble these days, and being an introverted type, he might not have any friends or family outside the club over here, so I think he would much rather be living in Adelaide.

Think he genuinely loves the club and his teammates though, and we do have the second-most indigenous players of any club, so that would have been a big part of the reason he’s staying.

Non-destination clubs are clubs that players leave, not clubs that players are joining.

Here's an example to help:

TDK is leaving a club under free agency. The club he leaves in a non-destination cub. A losing club, if you like.
TDK is joining a club under free agency. The club he joins is a destination club.

You can do this with other names as well. Names in the media like McKay, Curnow, Walsh etc. Try it.

You would have a point if the reason TDK was leaving was anything but a significant bump in salary (reported at ~600K+ per year). And names in the media mean very little. Now that NWM has re-signed it looks like the one-month long trade radio is going to be a snooze fest. Easy way to get some engagement is by talking about trading Carlton players.

Then you have two options. Lose him for no picks whatsoever, or take the best deal you can get with some late firsts.
Try explaining to the AFL in 5 years time why you should get a PP when you said no to multiple first round picks.
Try explaining that to your list managers who are trying to rebuild the team and wont have multiple first round picks to use to do that.
