Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

The jumper? This is his livelihood, fans really are delusional about the way players think. It's like people who think Cody will sit out a year of football just to get to the Blues.

Not to mention hypocritical. Very few would bat an eyelid if Corey Durds, for example, were to take a contract elsewhere.

It’s very much a case of fans wanting to have their cake and eat it too.

There’s no care for players sticking around for the jumper, there is only care for good players sticking around for the jumper!

Such a divide about TDK going.

Wonder for the ones who say he can boot off blah blah blah would pass up and extra 500-700k pay increase?

Possibly even more than that as he isn’t getting 1 million with us currently.

It’s his job. Last contract of this size in his current career.

He’s not leaving his boyhood suburban team to go to the rival suburb for a meat tray.

Some here must be Darryl’s and have their hands on it.
It's all irrelevant if you don't have integrity. After watching him all year. I don't like what I saw. Didn't play hard. Didn't defend. Just coasted. Yuck.

Same people said years ago when we were on track for Raynor and won the last few and got Dow. The irony is 90% of the players won’t last more than three years in the list anyway. Shortsighted rubbish.
When you say won the last few it was actually just 1 in the last 10, the legendary Jed Lamb game, so lets not reinvent history

I mean... exactly?

Gibbs had every reason to throw in the towel, knowing that a season ending injury might be a career ending one. He had much more on the line than TDK, who is guaranteed many more years of employment as a tall in this sport. A sport in which ungainly and unco-ordinated talls are retained on lists for years, even feted as the next big thing.

He'd have been fine either way. Him choosing to drop off is deeply unprofessional, and I'm absolutely going to judge a person on what their actions.
Gibbs had a contract so a season ending injury would not effect future earnings. Massive difference.

Well I actually think it will turn to sh!t over at that rabble. Once he has a few bad games, that supporter base and the media will be all over him. He, unfortunately, won’t cope well at all. That’s something he’s going to have to live with.

The least vocal supporter base in the competition. So it’s probably set up perfectly for him to have some bad games. :p

I was at the game tonight invited to the Bombers President function. Ran into Elijah walking past the room. Shook his hand, asked how he was going and asked if he was going to be at the Blues next year.

Without hesitation, he said 100% I will be.
I still dont know why he missed most of the season. Wasn't injury.

Last year StKilda offered ridiculous money for Finn Callahan and he said no.

17 million over 10 years. They’ve offered this money to a different player every year for the last 5 years and TDK is the only player so far in the AFL who has taken the danger money.

Your zero sum equation is simplistic - otherwise they’d have landed someone the last 5 years by simply offering someone enormous $$

And even TDK hasn’t taken the money yet, until he signs on the dotted line.

The following is speculation as I don’t know the specific circumstances. But in a family as large as TDK’s it is possible he grew up in some limited material circumstances - sharing bedrooms, hand me down clothes, etc. I’m not denigrating those conditions and I’m sure there were also benefits to the bigger family. But if that was the lot he grew up in, he may be keen to provide more comfortable arrangements for himself while he is at his peak earning potential.
