I heard it explained on SEN/Triple M.

As I posted above, similar structure to Mac Andrews' '10 year deal'

Was it someone from the club or just a journo making assumptions?

FWIW when I first read your post on it I was relieved. There's just so much bullshit flying around now it's hard to filter out the assumptions or gossip from the facts.

Remember the lessons from NAS’s signature. The journos don’t really know what they are talking about.

Relax, it will be okay.
The thing that I hang onto is that Gubby, SOS and Ross would have about 100 years of off-field experience. And Dalrymple would have a say if any pick/trade could be used better as well I assume.
I feel like there wouldn't be many clubs with a much experience even for any foibles we assume.

On any metric, stats or eye test did Battle have a better year then Wilkie. It feels like a middle finger to the Saints.

I watched a lot of Hawthorn games over the year, Battle over Wilkie in the AA is a fair dinkum piss take.

Must of been part of the compo pick deal with the AA along with the creche.
Battle over Wilkie.

Ben long over Higgins and Curtis 😂

No xerri is abit 😳

Last I checked Higgins was the top goal scorer out of all small forwards... HTF does he not even make the squad?
While a great year, he went missing for periods there. ( Doesn't help that was far as the AFL are concerned he doesn't have a head )

Jamie Elliot had a Gunston type of year. I am comfortable with that one.

Didn't watch much of the Suns so can't really comment on Long though not sure they fill the same role ?

Only Nas was going to make the team, but Wilkie and Higgins a little stiff not to make the squad.

But it's a zero sum game. Higgins ahead of Rankine, Bailey, Elliott, Long, Pickett and probably Heeney (who will get named in the front six and not in the midfield)?

Wilkie out but Battle in does seem a little off.

Nas gets his blazer on Thursday I'm sure.

Do you count Elliott as a small? He kicked more that Higgins.

I assume they will go with Elliott, Greene & Pickett. All of them are just as deserving, if not more TBH.

Snags kicks goals, that's about it.

Same with Wilkie vs Battle. I don't think they were really in direct competition to make the squad. Battle is in as a rebounding CHB while Wilkie is seen as a stopper.

Wilkie really up against Andrews, Collins & Taylor.

Could maybe argue Cal over Collins but I don't think either make the team. It's Taylor and Andrews all day.

Need to take some pressure off Jack Higgins with another small forward and I think flying Ryan helps that situation also I think Higgo’s defensive attributes have improved in the past season which in turn allows for another goal kicking small forward who puts scoreboard pressure on!
And another thing about small forwards if you’re not kicking 25+ goals a season then you’re not doing your job , defensive pressure should be a given you always find the top sides e.g ( Stengle 31G & Mannagh 28G ) you need 2 very good small forwards who can influence results of games!

Jack was always basically playing on the number one defender tall or small our midfield is still developing you look at some of the others they have experienced elite mids and a lot of the time the Saints were attacking from the back line. I think there’s nuances on what people see but as I see it, he should’ve been in the squad!

We’re doing an Adelaide next year
I mean, why not? There's not that much of a difference in talent between our list now, and their list at the start of this year, though they've got more developed talent than us, a definitely more exposed form now.

Bringing in TDK, Ryan, and Aleer lessens that gap, plus if we get full seasons out King, Pou and Howard, we're basically adding 6 best 23 players, with 4 of them being real game winners. Add natural development of the young core, and potentially a little bit of momentum built by late season form and the re-signing of Nas.

To quote the great B Ratten, why not us???

You don’t count 14 goal assists as more than that’s about it? And playing in a middle to bottom side compared with Elliot Green & Pickett (who played more mid than forward) to actually kick 46 goals goals on the number one defender from each opposition side deserves more respect than what you’ve given!
