Accor is not fit for purpose for the AFL anymore. FWIW, I support Geelong and the Giants playing home games at their home venues not the SCG and MCG. But if the AFL is pushing the Cats to the MCG the same rule should apply for NSW and QLD. It was actually worse last year given the Dogs didn’t play a home game at the MCG.
The SCG is an ice skating rink - more slips than Boland on a hat trick. No chance playing anyway. GWS have to cop it at the cultural and entertainment wasteland that is Homebush. Westies not allowed at the SCG.

This will be the Giants 19th finals match, for comparison Essendon have played in 18 finals since 2000

Honestly this one is probably the hardest to tip, Hawks are formadible but the Giants best is amongst the best in the comp

No surprise if this game goes down like it did in their 2 clashes last year

NFI who’s gonna win this match, much like everyone else. 🥹
Just hoping it’s close and entertaining! (and the umpires stay out of it!)
one thing about football you can guarantee is that the umpires will be consistently inconsistent. plus, finals footy so they'll be "less strict" *allegedly

Have the Giants played more finals than the Dockers?

When the Giants become big enough, you can bet your bottom dollar that the AFL will look to move games to the SCG.

Accor is not a suitable venue and football fans don't like it.

The fact the Swans have a head start and are still an AFL owned club tells me that the AFL will get what it wants in respect to the SCG, should it want it.

Wether fans like it or not it’s the biggest AFL ground in Sydney

It's not a suitable ground and they won't be reconfiguring it during league season for footy games.
Yes they will and have done so before.
They care about usage and coin, they will reconfigure it
The expense is too great and the broadcasters won't be supportive for a stadium that'll be half full, at best.
Which is why we stay at Engie until I’m long in the ground. Of course our board and leaders could wake up to themselves be full time be proud of representing western Sydney and we could grow quicker than I’m worried we will

Anyway the game is all but sold out. This is huge for football in Western Sydney and should hopefully smash the attendance record at the ground (21,792).

In the 2019 EF game, the Giants v Dogs drew 19,500 despite closing off the top of Fairfax stand. So who knows what the actual capacity of Engie is…

As it stands the only NRL final in Sydney next week is Cronulla v Penrith so this should smash that…

Given the AFL have the catering rights at Engie maybe they’ll push to build the stand behind the opposition goals and push the Swans to play home games there for lols…

Not sure what the issue is here. The Giants came 5th so they get a home final. It won't sell out anyway.
As for playing an early season H & A game at the SCG, I'm not sure it's needed. The turnout of Giants
fans at the SCG for the game against the Swans isn't very good usually. More Swans fans travel west for
the derby at Homebush but that's because there are more Swans fans in the first place.
Hopefully the Giants can get up and go all the way. They must feel they've let a few shots at a flag go
begging over the years (2016, 2023, 2024). But it will be tough for sure.

Sure about that? It looks to me like whoever runs Engie has let a lot of local food and drink operators in to
provide all the catering. It's a way better offering than what you can get at the SCG.

It basically sold out now. Less than 48 hours after going on sale and 7 days before the game. There are just a hand full of tickets still available

The Giants support is growing but not being able to play home games around the Easter Show is a real club killer. That and playing some big clubs in Western Sydney…

They should be playing the Pies, Blues, Dons, Tigers, Hawks, Cats and Swans at the Showgrounds every year - just like the AFL did with the Bears and Swans 30 years ago…

My mistake.

Do SCG / Accor members get reciprocal access to Engie? If not, it’s plausible the AFL could make more money from Engie finals than they do at the SCG presuming the category ticket prices are the same…
All good, mate.

My understanding is that SCG members are completely separate.

Accor members have reciprocal rights to Engie but SCG trust members are separate. Happy to be corrected.

What's good for football in Sydney doesn't necessarily have to align with what Giants or Swans fans want.

It's not an affront to my support and I have next to no qualms if the AFL deems it to be in the best interest of the game.
