Yup our club is not in a cozy place. After 3 decades of wandering in the wilderness, we remain in a mess.
We won't get a sniff of finals for at least 3 years , so more due diligence is vital in completion to coaching and recruitment departments changes in 2026 , whilst developing our younger footballers should be a priority.
Concurrently establish a wholesome well grounded team culture for future success enabling us to regain respect and a top position for our great club.

Interesting to see if Voss may get desperate for wins next year. If GW stance is finals then topping up with some experience would have to be anticipated and not refused if Voss requires it. If GW doesn’t expect finals then youth and long term will be the focus, problem here is makes it easier for Voss to meet targets.

GW won't sacrifice the future to try and perform a moonshot for Voss.

I can't see us going deep if we do scrape into the finals and my expectation is that we won't make it.

McGovern, Newman, Haynes, Saad and Williams will not be around when we next challenge.

Rather than slash and burn we are using attrition as contracts expire to rebalance the list.

Haynes has become a need due to our lack of depth at that position in 2026 (JSOS and HOF).

That being said with the compromised draft, Tas coming we are in a precarious position.

What I think of when I think of St.Kilda

Either way hard targets are a bit silly.

IMO Jackson is far superior to TDK. He can literally play anywhere and has TDK covered at the only spot TDK can play..
I agree. Jackson is what TDK needs to become to partially validate his money. Jackson is TDK with the ability to actually take a grab forward and actually kick/handball

Jackson is a genuine unicorn, a modern day Koutoufides. He can beat smaller midfielders at ground level and take pack marks and out muscle talls. TDK simply cannot do that and never will be able to. Jackson is the most valuable players in the comp IMO.

We need to look into more future production and less of the past. Of course, you still take into consideration the production over a career, but you need to be cautious.

Charlie has been one of the best forwards we have ever had and certainly much loved. He gave us X factor and excitement not seen since Fev.

My worry is what he will give us moving forward given his decline over the last 2 years, his injury history and his commitment to the club. I still think he will be good player (nothing more) but it's worth looking into a trade.

IF

1. We have decided we are in a mini rebuild and looking towards youth (mainly)
2. We are able to get max assets in return for him
3. We believe Charlie needs a change in order for him to get back to his best as it won't happen with us
4. He has an attitude problem

Then do it.

There are players out there that may not be seen as good as what Charlie has been in the past, but we can't be naïve to think that Charlie will get back to his best based on the issues above.

I would prefer Charlie to get back to his best rather than trade him, but I can't see it if I am being honest. I hope people are right blaming his injuries on his form this year. A lot of those people blamed injures on Carlton in 2024 and looked what happened in 25.

Was told the below last night from a recent ex-player... Only passing on what I was told:

1) GW's summary is that the club culture is toxic and needs repairing. Has made it known to the players that none of them are bigger than the club.

2) Players given a 'shape up or ship out' ultimatum, with a focus on team-first mentality

3) Saints front runners for JSOS

4) Voss gave Charlie a baking a few times during the season, more-so about his poor off-field attitude. Tipping point was Charlie riding his bike into the North game when he had a minor injury complaint earlier in that week.

5) Behind the scenes, we're open to trading Curnow. Our public position is just the usual fun and games. Will only trade him for well overs. Sydney the front runners.

6) Cripps likely to stand down as Captain. The role has exhausted him mentally, hence his absence in media roles this year.
