Re E. Hollands I wonder their is a bit of strategy in this call to “explore your options” in that it’s unlikely another club will offer us anything of material value to convince us to do a trade, but it will hopefully put an all mighty rocket up him in the hope he can finally changes his ways and fully commits to a professional lifestyle. He has so much god given talent and is what we lack so badly so I pray to high heaven he can sort those vices out. Love that GW, Vossy and co are no longer being held hostage to shit and or selfish behavior.
No. Club really wants him gone

Curnow and his manager would do well asking Wright what it would it take to be let off his contract at Carlton - letting his manager make random calls to players and Clubs - sans understanding what Carlton wants - is a bit amatuer hour - but that is just my opinion.

Even then DD, how much time does he spend away from the goal in a game? There's many factors but I think that it's indisputable that Charlie's the better player. King is very good, Charlie's a superstar when he's fit and firing , he has a much higher ceiling than King.
I’ve probably gone too much with this and I agree Charlie is the more valuable player but I don’t think it’s by much.

You and others are right, Charlie spends more time up the ground and does more than kick goals, where King stays pretty deep.

If Charlie were to go to GC, King would be a fantastic addition for us

It reeks of desperation on his manager's behalf; Carlton shouldn't be buckling under pressure. We hold the upper hand here by a long way.

IF Charlie were gone, 100%, yeah, he'd be a good addition.

I'm okay with Ben being a major part of a Charlie trade but why on earth are we comparing the two as players and using goals as the only metric?

Ben is your traditional inside 30-40 marking full forward who until Dimma arrived and the likes of Rowell and Noah developed was the recipient to average at best forward entries.

Curnow, on the other hand, has never had silver lace out service. Never had good systems and structures to play in. But what really separates Charlie from every other 30-40 metre full forward in the comp and that ESPECIALLY includes Ben King is that he has always been able to produce up the ground.

Comparing on goals alone will never do Charlie justice and still he's won Coleman medals. I'm sorry I find the limited comparisons more than a little ingenujne

They aren’t tied
2.1 A game each I saw here on that table above? *Edit 2.14 vs 2.10, come on DD ...... :tearsofjoy: :tearsofjoy: I'm calling that a tie lol

Contracted till 2029 - Wright will know that the time to sell high is now.

btw- I think people are over-estimating what the Club (internally) thinks Charlie is worth.

Doubt the AFL would like seeing what it is seeing either - but that is another story - a story which inevitably lead to Clubs having MUCH more say in player trading than they currently enjoy.

Gulden + or GGF would be my smiling nicey nicey statement to Sydney. To Geelong? We won't be trading with you stoopid hicks - ever so FOFF.

To GC? Well that is a different story - hmm Charlie for this KPF and this mid and this other play and this pick - no worries we loves ya kiss kiss. GC have 2KP forward in the right age bracket Carlton would take, a few mids as well.

Well yes,l we'd need to come out in front for me to be comfortable with it.

Ridley nominating Brisbane, Allan most likely going to Brisbane and Draper being linked there, makes me wonder how they get it all done on top of needing good pony’s for their academy kids.

It also pisses me off that other clubs can be at the top and have the $$$$ to chase quality players to stay at the top, when we made the prelim and did stuff all to push for a flag.

Was told the below last night from a recent ex-player... Only passing on what I was told:

1) GW's summary is that the club culture is toxic and needs repairing. Has made it known to the players that none of them are bigger than the club.

2) Players given a 'shape up or ship out' ultimatum, with a focus on team-first mentality

3) Saints front runners for JSOS

4) Voss gave Charlie a baking a few times during the season, more-so about his poor off-field attitude. Tipping point was Charlie riding his bike into the North game when he had a minor injury complaint earlier in that week.

5) Behind the scenes, we're open to trading Curnow. Our public position is just the usual fun and games. Will only trade him for well overs. Sydney the front runners.

6) Cripps likely to stand down as Captain. The role has exhausted him mentally, hence his absence in media roles this year.

1 and 2. Not at all surprised. This is the line in the sand moment we've been waiting for. Players lacking accountability while simultaneously accepting the pay check and passing the buck.

3. Looking more and more like the people who were saying before the Jack announcement that they were using Collingwood and the Dogs to set Jack's price before they came slightly over the top are right.

4/5 - being discussed to death. Not surprised at Voss trying to give the attitude adjustment to Charlie. Next time should maybe try the RKO instead

6 - probably least surprised by this. Has reached the point in his life where a lot more competing and lets be honest important priorities start dominating your life. Is far from the first to see performances start to drop on and off field in the season following a baby being born. Happens in all walks of life. More than reasonable to step down and focus his footy on training and playing to the best of his availability and ability without all the other stuff he's burdened for years.

Not only did we do **** all we gutted the list of depth at the same time. Seriously compare our 2023 list to our 2025 list.

Yes player contracts get in the way but holy shit that's a lot of bad maneuvering on top of it. We sat almost comatose at the trade table and watched most of it play out instead of being proactive.

Nah, trade period is a long time away. Let’s nit put a figure on it. Any suitors need to play the game in a Dutch auction scenario. Play cards close, don’t give anything away and let the offers increase if the suitors are genuine. No conceding we actually would consider an official offer like all of the rumours. Plenty of time on the final day to “change our minds”.

Don’t engage early when you have a prized commodity.

Brisbane may also lose Bailey and Hipwood

King has 253 goals from 118 games, that’s 2.14 goals, which is more than Charlie’s

Charlie averages 5 more disposals, 2 more marks, 1 more tackle and more behinds so I'd say, on stats, that would justify whoever said that King was a stay at home forward far more than Charlie.

I know which one I'd rather have in my team.
