Are we still linked to C Jiath? (or was that just thought bubble on this cursed site?)

He has some great moments of composure on Saturday, and also some terrible clangers (ie, very Carltonesque).

I wouldn't mind seeing him on the list.

Hello.

I, like my fellow Eagles fan the page earlier come in peace.

When you say token picks, how token do you mean?

This is a weird case where even though we were almost certainly delisting the good chap six weeks ago but then he was given one last shot when we had some injuries and finally showed a little bit to warrant mild excitement.

As such he was offered a deal comparibile to Carlton’s and he’s still chosen you.
This makes this a weird case where we want the guy, and a nothing fourth round pick won’t cut it.

It also needs to be pointed out that hypothetically we could re draft him through either the PSD or ND, but also pointed out that our list management team has a large supply of Diddy’s finest baby oil and allows it to be used on itself. We don’t have a history of playing hard ball, not even with the new hierarchy, see paying pick 14 for out of contract Liam Baker last year as an example.

So. Where does that leave us. I have no idea.
Perhaps it ends up being a swap for Holland? I have my own reservations there but we have been linked.

I need to stress I’ve got a lot of time got Carlton. Great place, great fans and if I were a Melbournian instead of a Perthian I’d be a bagger with you lads and ladies. This is no way an inflammatory or troll post. If I’m off the mark, it’s well intentioned.

Cheers.
We probably only need points so imo the most likely result is we will just upgrade your picks in some way. If not it will likely just be tied in with a larger trade with more sides involved.

I’m sure something will get done

Could be blown out of all proportion though if there is nothing else to report on during trade week 😂

why would any employer keep an unhappy employee

Football isn't really like any other "normal" industry.

If Curnow's contract was indeed front loaded, we could pay him his yearly salary and play him in the VFL 2nds.

This would benefit us by not having to play against him and his new team, which would potentially mean the proposed destination club doesn't win as many games.

And besides, there are millions of unhappy employees in Australia.

With his injury history, you would imagine it'll be a pick upgrade, but hard to get a gauge on his value given he hasn't played a lot.

Some of the stuff on your board is fairly entertaining though. Some saying he was delist material before the last handful of games, now he's worth a first rounder. Others saying that it should be a player swap with either Moir or Lord. There was one suggesting Sam Walsh AND a future pick!!! And of course the old 'walk him to the PSD' always gets a run.

The one that made me laugh was Carlton can have pick 2 for free if we take Owies back 😂

Thanks for coming across and posting in a respectful way. It's one of those occassions where history says you're going to lose a talented guy for way unders because of the factors (out of contract, injury history) and you won't feel good about the outcome. We as Blues supporters know all about that having lost many guys we rated as high talents and who were high draft picks for effectively chump change. And in many cases, those guys we lost had strung more good games of football together than Chesser at the same stage of their career.

The PSD or ND won't be used. Clubs try to keep an element of goodwill so that future dealings don't break down and they also try to look after the player in most cases. The Eagles and Blues as far as I know have no ill will against each other through past dealings. You won't risk breaking down relations between clubs, player managers, future player signings etc. over Chesser. Not the time and place to dig your heels in.

Can't see us offering any more than a pick in the 40s. I don't think the Eagles will love that so they may prefer a player as you have a young list. That may be Hollands (who on talent alone is greater than Chesser IMO) but you'd have to be careful there as we don't know the full story with his behaviour off field. It may be an experienced guy like Acres who works his backside off offensively and defensively, sets good standards and is genuinely a very good player apart from his kicking which is rather poor. He played injured this year and many of us in here have short memories of what he achieved only a year or two prior. He'd be a better bet for you than a token pick as he would give you a few good years of service helping out the young guys and honestly would strengthen one of your wings.

Also if you want to switch allegiances and become a Bagger we'd have you with open arms. You might go from seeing one or two wins a year to five or six.

Excited with the Chesser pick. There was a quarter of footy I watched during his last month where I thought he clearly looked like one of WC's best players. Was surprised to find he'd hardly played.
Kid is a jet, just has termite riddled wooden ankles.
Guy at work who was cannons or chargers (cant remember) development squad guy for 12 years in a volunteer capacity said in his pre draft year was pencilled in top 5. Slid owing to injury draft season. Said if his ankles are actually OK now and hold up will be a great get.
His daughter good mates with Chesser. Said he is a great kid, works his ar*e off but has had a hell of a time getting his ankles right. Reckons the surgery was the right option and thinks WCE would be spewing they have lost him after the work they have put in getting him right.

It does happen, doesn’t it? Players don’t work out and then turn into something really good elsewhere. Jesse Hogan leaving Freo and then becoming a gun. hell even in the more abstract Gunston when he left Brisbane to go back to Hawthorn. I didn’t expect a 60 goal season that’s for sure.

I agree the PSD / ND avenue won’t happen. I’d like us to show a spine, but I don’t see it.

I think you’ll get a good player for very little. May he kick on. I’m a bit disappointed in him, but that’s life.

Cheers.

We finished the season in 11th place, equal on points with 13th, after having what was described as the easiest draw. We have now lost or look to be losing TDK, SOS, LIJ, Doc, Cinc, Fantasia and then the maybe of Gov, Acres and an unlikely Charlie.

I dont see how we add enough quality youth and have the currency to chase established players in an area of need, without losing Charlie for example.

Only TDK and Curnow are top 10 players for us from that lot. Certainly Cincotta and Fantasia actually weaken your argument.

By all account the ankle stuff should be all good now they finally took action after the last re lapse.
