Just curious what assets do the hawks, cats and dogs have for port in a butters trade?

It’s unlikely but it’s not crap when we have picks to use and now cap space and people at the club that he has relationships with. The hawks are interested in Ken Hinkley so they can get Butters. Why doesn’t that apply to us if we get Hinkley?
Hawks allegedly interested in Hinkley for Butters. I just can't see a single player moving due to a relationship with a coach. How about all his mates that he plays with each week.
Hawks, Cats and Dogs have no chance either. Butters will be a one club man. He won't be leaving port

Charlie was once a player with potential
I'd go further and say that unfortunately, Charlie is still a player with potential.

Will he play like the star he can be, or will he drift in & out of the game? Not sure, he has the potential for either one.

Will he work hard and apply pressure and make his teammates better? He didn't really this year, but the potential is there.

Will he take leadership responsibilities seriously and do basic team things well, like take his time for set shots to allow the defence to set up behind him? It would be nice. Potentially.

Obviously Charlie has huge natural talent. If he was also a reliable team-first player then keeping him would be a no-brainer. But he's not. (Yet?)

There has been some ludicrous takes since Charles requested a trade This year was extremely poor, no doubt about it... but it has been fairly well documented he came into the year off 3 pre-season surgeries and in modern AFL world it is unlikely you are going to have a good year with that preparation.

If some posters believe his body isn't going to hold up into the future and it is a good chance to cash in, I can maybe somewhat respect that but..

Some of the nonsense around his playing ability has been outrageous - some even arguing his 2 x Coleman and AA years were substandard.
The guy is a ****ing star and Gold Coast would immediately become flag favourites with him next year.

The club is not going to capitulate for a speculative player and ordinary pick. As has been outlined numerous times the deal would have to be massive overs for us to even consider it.

In my mind it is still fairly likely he stays next season and there will some furious comment scrubbing happening in the early rounds next year.

Have seen a few on here mention ‘Charlie requested a trade’

I have seen nothing anywhere, media, social media, TV of Charlie publicly requesting a trade.

All the noise has come apparently from his Manager D’Orazio from Connors Sports drip feeding the media.

Walter & pick 6 which ends up.pick 10 for.Curnow is exactly the deal we should not be doing why? No other team would do it
Because at best it is 2 "B" graders for the 2nd best forward of the last 5 years who can deliver a premiership.

Stand back, look at the deal and appreciate it guarantees GC everything & Carlton Nothing

There is absolutely zero evidence in Charlie's AFL career that he can deliver a premiership. Charlie has spent the large majority of his career on early mad monday celebrations instead of playing finals.

Not yet, and even then, there will be no mass exodus, as some people are catastrophising about. The only one I'd lament is the loss of Charlie. If we get something extremely good for him, then okay, see ya.

I've heard Charlie and Cripps have had a falling out. Cripps not happy with Charles work rate. I'm not sure how true it is but I think we can all agree that Charlie looked pretty lazy out there this year even though he had an interrupted pre season
Good, hope it’s true. His efforts this year were diabolical.
And if true, and it was Cripps giving this feedback and he’s cracked the absolute sads over it the he needs to get the **** out of the club.

If it’s true….but I’m certain without knowing someone has told him he’s been as lazy as **** this year

Gold Coast have offered Walter a deal that would take him to free agency. Decent coin.
Perhaps trade postering, either they don’t want to loose him in any circumstances period, (which i can’t blame them)..

if there is any trade possibility with Charlie they position themselves for a minimum trade handover exchange to the trade swap…

If Walter is split considering the possibility of moving its maximising their chances of keeping him..

Postering themselves in creating to creating other possible options…

You mean like there was no evidence that Lynch or Cameron could deliver premierships before they crossed to Richmond & Geelong?

Just read the no discussion thread

Does that mean Harry Dean hasn’t nominated us as F/S prospect?
His dad has mentioned in interviews that he loves Carlton and his dream is to get to the club. There's absolutely no chance he doesn't nominate us. From what I've read the formalities are usually done in late October.

why is president making that decision on elijah?

probably over a dozen people at the club more qualified to make that call, that's not including his teammates.

weird.
Not necessarily

Some matters get escalated up the chain, especially when looking to kick someone out of an organisation

Butters is from Bacchus Marsh, went to school in Maribrynong and played for the western jets.

I think he would have more mates in Melbourne and Bacchus Marsh than the PA club.

That is my question also.

Also, how do we square the “we’re going to give Elijah all the support he needs during this difficult time and make sure he knows we back him “ malarkey with “**** off and get a contract somewhere else”

AFL House have their preferred timeline for these things. The media machine has finals to focus on at the moment, they don't want players nominating too early given they need a spattering of "announcements" between the GF and the free agency/trade/draft period to keep the clicks coming.
