It’s a nice idea untill star players are out of the games for months with injuries

For mine that’s the biggest reason as to why it hasn’t come back

And dont get me wrong, the State of Origin in the NRL set up works very well and it has a massive following in Australia and thats fine. The state of Origin in the NRL is big and fair enough too.

But it doesnt work in the AFL anymore. It was scrapped for a reason - lack of interest and clubs not wanting their players to get hurt during State of Origin games. The priority or should I say biggest priority for AFL clubs is the Premiership.

State of origin was always very important to wa and sa. Way more important than to Victoria.

It is the same in rugby league state of origin. It is far more important to qld than it is to nsw. Little brother and all that.

Wa was always very proud of the fact that they invented state of origin and were highly competitive.

Then the eagles came in and people were watching a state team take on the vics every week, so they lost interest.

However…..because the eagles have been so crap for an extended period, the wa footy public is looking for any reason to have some pride in wa footy. Freo don’t move the dial, WC are wa’s team and they are an embarrassment. I can see the wa footy public getting heavily behind the state of origin game, it is the only chance wa footy has of being relevant. They will be up for it.

He was restricted 4 senior games and 3 VFL games this year due to calf & other soft tissue injuries

Maybe retirement was the better option at his age. Once you start doing a calf or three and your only position is running mid, you're done.

That's pretty interesting. Neale i note has the same number of score involvements with 40 fewer sites at goal.

Both Kings, when fit, would have absolutely dominated the AFL uptil about 2010, maybe 2015 at the latest.

But now they are just two one dimensional. As bad as Wright can be at times at least you can throw him into the ruck if its not working forward.

If King doesn't kick goals, he brings next to nothing else.

You can totally understand why GC would love to bring Curnow into the team

Slow news week when Footy Crappified and badAgenda setters have hammered us over somethings from last week that the AFL has cleared.

Could understand when its a bye week but its PF week.

He was huge in the VFL finals for the most part, still very talented but he pings a calf getting out of bed, he is basically last chance saloon here.

Actually way back when our football coach had us come out of the lockers with clapping pattern using our pads and hands. Sort of precursor of Queen's We Will Rock You thing. Sounded good sitting down inside, not so trying to walk out in full uniforms.
