Let me ask you this, given his performances in finals, and his on-field attitude and form this year, and all the public & media perception since he supposedly announced he wants out, do you think it’s likely he’ll suck it up and focus on returning to Coleman form?
He will have no choice but to suck it up. He signed the contract.

As if they is going to happen.
We either get a very good deal or he stays it is that simple.

Curnow's manager is driving this because he knows the probability of a satisfactory offer being put forward is a low probability.
The other point that people need to understand is that, sooner or later, all clubs need to start making a stance with players and their managers, who are contracted!!! The only way to do that in these situations, is demand top dollar + sum.

Thankfully, we are starting to see clubs now align.

CJMB why did you not accept my wisdom?

It was about Ed, rather than Geelong. that’s an era of CFC we should be moving away from, not looking back at or returning to.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the Geelong stuff is as much about making a Sydney or Suns option feel more palatable for the club. Driven by Sleazy Rob, of course.

Collingwood has launched an audacious bid to land Charlie Curnow for 2026 and beyond.

Err. what are they actually putting up for this audacious bid? Could be one of those dummy auction bids to drive the price up, nice work McRae.
I’d do Naicos and McCrae

They can Captain and Coach the VFL

GW will only trade Curnow if we win big on the deal.
You would hope so, hbf.

SOS held firm the first time Gibbs under contract wanted to go home to Adelaide and didn’t blink. Crows had to wait another 12 months and 2 R1 picks later to make it happen.

Bit of a test case for GW to make a statement and test his Carlton First philosophy.

Jiath is no superstar but he shouldn't be judged on last night's performance. He came onto the ground when the intensity was through the roof, in the third quarter, in a prelim. Most players would have taken time to adjust to the game.

Seems unrealistic to me that we could, win big. However, if we have an acceptable deal, that is seen by most as a fair deal for us. Then I think

G.W. will give it his tick of approval. He has been round long enough, to know that you do not want a player (no matter how talented). To be on

our list, if he is not happy to be here. Club is playing a smart game here, feel confident that a positive outcome will ensue.

I reiterate my personally stance.

IF he truly wants out, Charlie and his management can GAGF.

Go broker a deal that is well in our favour and we’ll consider. Otherwise be ready day one of pre season to earn your pay and work incredibly hard to drag us upward.

Simple as that.

Watching Geelongs forward 6 last night really shows you how far off the pace our forward line is.

They counter at pace, good kicking, find the right option so often, good mix of smalls and talls, Dangerfield somehow still in beast mode.

Even still, I’d hazard a guess and say if you put their forward 6 in our current team, they’d lose 50% of their effectiveness.
And their key forwards actually chase and do a lot of unrewarded running to fill in gaps so the oppposition cannot transition the ball quickly from defensive 50 to forward 50….unlike one of our of so called “generational stars” who wants to leave the club this off season.

We are so far behind both of those 2 teams who played last night in terms of personnel and following a gameplan it’s not funny. I’m sure tonight’s game will show case another 2 sides who are also miles ahead of us as well. Our club is probably 2-3 years away from being relevant IMO.

CJ came in when the game was red hot and his team had no momentum. Having to pick up the pace that quickly in such a high intensity game wouldn’t be easy

Coming in as sub is hard for anyone.

And the game pressure was insane last night. Which makes it very hard for a player who thrives on creating space and pace.

But it is concerning that he couldn't function in a high pressure game. Does that mean he's permanently not suited to finals? Or am I reading too much into it?

Jiath would provide an incremental improvement to the group. Adding a dash of speed. He doesn’t err on the side of enthusiasm and effort, so would not provide a huge negative.

My problem would be if we paid him a premium or paid a premium for him. If the Hawks release him it will be because they are happy to.

Carlton first could just as easily mean **** off if you don’t want to be here

I agree it’s harsh to judge CJ on last nights game as he is clearly not 100% and it would have been hard to come in and pick up the tempo of such a high pressure game. My concern is his elite quality is his athleticism which he appears to have lost due to multiple recurring injuries.

Hawthorn are elite when it comes to injury management and high performance and they have not been able to keep him healthy so it beggars belief to think that Carlton, probably bottom 4 for injury management and high performance, could get him right.
