How did ____ go on the weekend?

Why not consult the Alesana Player Video Database.

Odd way in which the game finish, we will never know the precise moment that the umpire called time

I was watching as a neutral, just wanting to see a good game and thought that East Perth got an unbelievable rub of the green with the umpires 28 frees to 13, they got looked after all day by the umpires.

It wasn't the frees that East Perth received that I thought was the problem with the umpiring, rather its the ones that they missed or just didn't pay to South.

East Perth had much more of the ball but couldn't maximise their advantage in that regard.

Thought South were the better team, more efficient with the ball and in the end thats why they won
East Perth midfield dominated, but Souths defence were uber.

**** I hate south

East Perth forever boys!!

And yeah the umps missed a Souths player getting his head pulled off his shoulders 30 seconds before the end.

The decision to not pay a 50m penalty has been approved because there was no time intent to waste time with no more left in the match.

WAFC has said it was the correct decision based on the rules.

It’s a tough one for the umpire. Without the 50m it was not a realistic chance for a score. He was kicking from 90m.

Would they have been screaming for the same decision if it was in the back pocket?

Also, the only thing that robbed them was the disgusting game style they implemented for 3 quarters.

Bulldogs well deserved winner 🏆

How about players and staff being on the field?

I follow neither team but surely the “time wasting” aspect is more to do with the defenders getting back rather than game clock. In which case it absolutely is time wasting.

Hypothetically, what if Baker gets up quickly and kicks it 60 and it rolls through because the defenders didn’t get back. That chance was taken from him. Just because it’s unlikely doesn’t mean we stop applying the rules.

That would be the key. If the umpire had signalled time, then you'd think a player kicking the ball away in celebration would not incur a time-wasting penalty, as the game had finished.

If it was kicked away before the umpire had called time, then you'd think a penalty would be the decision.

If the South's players are allowed to defend the kick after the siren on the goal line then technically the deliberate kick away should be awarded a fifty meter penalty because it's relevant to the free kick.

That's not a rule

Happened in the QAFL recently where players and staff ran on to the ground in the grand final

But 50 was only paid when number 3 ran through the protected zone.

They played the best way they thought they could to drag souths as late into the game as possible and it almost worked.

No one else has managed to do it so it was brilliant coaching. It was 30 seconds away from working or one less turnover in their defensive 50

People bag umpires relentlessly for not showing common sense, and then they show it at the biggest moment of the season and they get bagged.

Fair dinkum, of course it wasn't a 50. There's not a single person alive who believes the Souths player was genuinely trying to waste time there.

Splinterdick doesn't make any mention of of that and the other free kicks that weren't paid to South.
