To think we gave up everything but the kitchen sink to get Jamarra and we are going to get sweet FA back is bitterly disappointing

He should be ashamed of himself for how he has shat on us
We really didn't

We missed out on James Rowe who has already been delisted thats about it was a shit draft where we used pick in the 30s and 40s to get him

Carlton may be even more interested to move their first to next year now they’re not blocked in matching a bid for Walker.

We really didn't give up that much.

I don't fully understand Buku's reasoning for leaving.

So I get that he is getting a longer and more lucrative contract at Carlton, but all the public messaging even from before the trade request went through was that he wanted "more opportunity".

I get that he hasn't broken into our Best 22 yet but he has still played 31 games over the past 2 seasons. I just don't see Carlton giving him more opportunity then that.

This smells a lot like Lewis Young 2.0 (go to Carlton for "more opportunity" but then realise they are the reserve/backup/fringe player no matter where they go)
Yep most likely but he will be on 600k as opposed to probably 300k so really not a tough decision and more years than he probably see's with us

We pretty much only used pick 14 (17 after bids) for Jamarra, as the bulk of the points for matching the bid came from trading that to Collingwood for 26, 33 and 42:

“The Dogs used picks 29, 33, 41, 42, 52, 54 to match the bid, while getting picks 61, 119, 120, 121 and 122 in return.”

So we used 14, a third and a fourth to get Jamarra.

We got Treloar for an F2.

To accumulate the points for JUH, we did the following:
  • Downgraded our 2nd round pick (33) to Adelaide's 3rd round pick 41 (in 2019 via the Keath trade), and used that 3rd round pick (41).
  • Traded our 14 + F2 to Collingwood for Treloar + 26, 33, 42
  • Traded 26 to GWS for 29, 52
  • Used our own pick 54

So in effect, for JUH + Treloar (and a small part of the Keath trade), we gave up pick 14, pick 54 and future pick 38 (2021). You'd almost do that deal for Treloar alone, who was effectively a freebie and makes the JUH disaster a lot easier to stomach when looking at the sunken cost.

Especially when you consider we got Treloar on a 33% discount from a salary perspective.

Did we not have a first rounder that draft? We could’ve got Holmes.
Holmes was a bolter at pick 20

"There's always room for a smokey. Holmes would be a genuine surprising inclusion in the top-30, but it is not beyond the realms. The excellent athlete shapes as a real bolter given he has played so little football in the talent pathway, but he put himself on the map with his testing, when he ran 2.8 seconds in the 20-metre sprint and 6:25 in the 2km time trial. He played one game for Sandringham last year having given away an athletics career, with his mother Lee Naylor a former Olympian and Commonwealth Games gold medallist."

It’s hard to imagine we’re going to be delisting too many players because at this stage we’ve got Duryea retiring, Buku requesting a trade, relatively few draft picks, and no one requesting trades to us.

Probably quite a few guys like Jones and Poulter will be on standby til after the trade period to see if they’ll be offered contracts or not.

I always say to myself I won’t even bother but at the end I will be one of those idiots that would be listening.

Holmes was a huge reach. A successful one in the end, but it was a big risky pick.
Any many on this board would have been shitting on the club for getting Holmes while already having an elite midfield + Dunkley, Lipinski and Smith at that point. I think Wallis was still around then too.
