What worries me is, the Cats have generally been sluggish in games that follow on from a tight game against the Hawks. For example, the Blues beat the Cats the round after Easter Monday.

If it makes you feel any better, the week after the Lions beat the Pies at the MCG during the season, they lost at home to Sydney.

Another reason behind that is that usually we come off a shortened prep due to playing on the Easter Monday. The whole week after those games is usually centred around recovery.

I'm confident we'll be ready to go. We may have been tardy on Friday after only playing once in a month while Hawthorn we're sharper from not having the week off, but I have faith there'll be no sluggishness on Saturday.
Plus they're played at a finals like standard, while a team like Carlton is coming off a Good Friday stroll in the park in comparison

If Hawthorn and Geelong are both up and about, I tip us to to lose the week after Easter Monday every time.

It just takes too much out of both sides, where as in a finals series, it's a level playing field.

As per 7News just now - Lachie Neale to play, and he'll replace Berry, in what will be his second game in 56 days

Brisbane were reportedly close to playing him on Saturday against Collingwood

Lachie Neale will play - reported exclusively by 7 just now.

I'm not saying you don't play Neale, I wouldn't know, but I know you choose to play him if you feel desperate.
Makes the start even more crucial. Make them chase tail and they can't go with us, especially with Neale underdone.

Alternatively, if Brissy can get the fast break and go into possession mode, they're bloody hard to beat.

Almost all of their crucial wins this year have followed the same script. Punch you in the mouth, and dominate possession after that.

Just renders any pressure useless. They're exhausted by the time they get the ball from all the work they've done to get it back.

Picked us to win by 34 points. We will have too much leg speed for them and they have also played an extra final. They might stick with us for a half and then we will put them away. Hope Neale and Berry play. Running around the Gabba is a far cry from the big dance on the MCG. Great player but I would be astonished if he is remotely close to his best.

Berry out is big for them. 27 and a goal in the semi final and had 11 touches in only 27% game time before being subbed in the PF. Would rather him be playing injured but he’s a big out.

PS: does anyone else’s phone glitch when typing a message on phone and then you always accidentally click the stupid pop up ads or is it just me. Swear it’s on purpose. Does my head in

Let them roll the dice. Extraordinary decision to play him. And to declare him before training on Thursday is even more bizarre. If he goes off in the first half then it will be pretty embarrassing. Also shows little faith in their other options.

It's not an extraordinary decision at all. They've got a long injury list with very few other options.

The likely replacement is James Tunstill who's played 11 games in 4 seasons and has played about 10 minutes of footy since round 7. Thinking a top 10 player in the game going at 80% is more likely to stand up in a GF than a kid who would be close to being delisted is a no brainer.

This isn't bringing in a 100+ gamer who played every home and away game when fit like when we brought in Parfitt for Holmes in 2022.

Nah, it's because we rort the salary cap, give away farms, own Cotton On, and have a coach being paid squillions by a finance company.

Ask Caro. She'll tell ya the AFL has audited the Cats because the corruption is so rife and....oh, wait.

What was that Caro? Sorry, I can't hear you.

Huh, nothing insidious came out of the audit?! But wait, it was a huge story wasn't it?

Caro?

Caro - are you still there??

Personally don’t think it will have any influence on the result but to take a guy that is 3 weeks into a 4-6 week rehab is optimistic at best, but bordering on irresponsible.

Understand your pov but it’s better to have someone that can contribute to someone that likely won’t.

Fagan on 360 now:

  • no decision on Neale, needs to get through and pull up well from Thursday’s main training to be named
  • sounds like Berry won’t play, Fagan said he be given an opportunity to train but said there is a risk of shoulder popping out again

That’s true. However as stated, internet search versus actual experience of a foot condition are totally opposite.

I would hazard to guess he went downstairs, got assessed and likely has a jab to nerve block then another 5+ minutes to adjust.
Didn't need an internet search regarding a knock to the CPN- it happens infrequently, but am very aware of it.

Ask yourself how close would Holmes have to be to fully fit for us to pick him over George Stevens?

Stevens played more minutes this year than Tunstill.
