Welcome Welcome to Hawthorn : Jack Ginnivan!

I hate to have a negative spin on a positive - but Kane Cornes' praise of Ginnivan kinda frustrated me. He (after Mitchell mentioned his form to him on radio last Friday) has said that he has 'grown up' or something along those lines as a player. And absolutely, he has taken his footy to an even better level than it was last year, but it's annoying because he's always been more than a smart ass who drew free kicks.
The reason he was recruited was for his noticeable footy IQ. It stood out to me his footy nous in the 2023 Prelim when he came on as the sub in the last qtr and helped the Pies hold on to their victory like a veteran.
However Jack's last three to four months have been elite and he's been our best half forward this season out of the three (Moore,MacDonald). Seems he was really bothered in the pre-season by his foot injury, which took a while to get over.
Just wait for what they say about Jack after tonight's game.

Jack is going to tear the opposition to pieces and shove the remains in his ginni van.

That's just during the Welcome to Country ceremony

A bit of a concern that he had hamstring awareness after last week's game. Cleared to play but that's not ideal. I don't want him being subbed out early for Punky. If that were to happen our chances of winning will diminish greatly.
I didn't know that. Thought it was a corky or something. That's a. bit of a worry.

Speaking of Welcome to Country, any suggestions on which book to read this week? I got through 2/3 of War and Peace during last week's edition.

Genuinely didn't think he would be as good as he has become. I thought we were getting a crafty forward pocket with a good goal sense, instead we have a hard running high IQ half forward with a good goal sense. An absolute gun, and just love how much he gets under the oppo skin.
They tried to chart Jack's Football Iq. They have given up on this futile task, because the chart manufacturer couldn't fit it in within the bonds 8 of the printer. So officially, Jack doesn't have an IQ that is immeasurable. People say he rises to the occasion
Now that's confidence

He obviously played under a little duress last night, hopefully the hammy can be managed.
He’s such a clever player that even a little hobbled he gets in the right positions and is always there to help out.

Reckon he would miss this week if it was a home and away match. Can’t see him missing being a cut throat final.
I agree he will play even if not 100%.

It is amazing how important he is to our structure now. Had a brilliant last 3 months of footy and I did not foresee he would turn into the player he has become.

Hats off to Ginni and Mitchell for getting his where he is today.

Hopefully he's fine for Prelim. Would be a massive out.

With all the media last week on Ginni, it helps all the other players slip under the radar. Especially someone like Wiz who can just grow and do what he does without distraction
I think he will play, but to suggest he would be a massive out is ignoring that, probably due to him carrying “hamstring awareness” 🙄 he contributed minimally on Friday night.

Yet we won easily.

If he is fit, he will obviously play.

If we have to replace him with MacKenzie, we will be fine.

Broke his finger early in the 1st quarter. I thought it was just a dislocation.

Played through it and could tell he wasn't his usual clean self. Will be going in for surgery.
