It was an at times very stressful death ride for North's pick 4

I'll be upset if we don't use it, having to delay gratification once again for another future pick..not fair.
Some people enjoy a nice edging

That's fine, we'll just go ahead and take CDT and Lindsay and walk away very happy.

Some WC fans are hoping they take Duursma and Robey at 1,2

They really want to risk 2 vic metro boys, one of whoms family has history of asking for trades back to vic the other is close with his family after his mother’s illness. They really are self destructive aren’t they.

We lose this hard. Imagine theirs is a similar pick next year? Pick 3 (which may become 4) for two pick 14s in compromised drafts...

Agree, reckon we can do better than that.

However, when you look at how we got pick 4, we can't really lose.

Essentially pick 28 & pick ~27 for 2x pick 14s 😂 thanks again norfs

And Cumming, Marsh and Grlj. About time Schubert got some love though.

We won’t pass on Sully. We will take him at 3 and try split 4… personally can’t see which club would be desperate to get up to 4 for I guess CDT but stranger things have happened.
First, just secure Robey… then the club can work on their whiteboard scenarios.
And yes Schubert is a legit top 10.

Don't like the idea of us trading out a pick. Just take the 2 best kids we can. We are in for the long build so splitting picks to me just seems like we are trying to take a short cut and try to outsmart the system.

Robey & Cumming, or Sharp or who ever falls after the first 2 picks.

They arent taking Robey, dumb campaigners been reading our board obviously. Eagles will play it safe and pick Duursma and CDT/Sharp.
Would be a massive call for them to take Robey - imagine the blowback if he doesn't work out and they are then questioned as to why they'd risk a top-2 pick on a kid with 10-weeks of elite underage football under his belt?

On the back of trading out top-end picks that cost them Sheezel and Jagga Smith, I just can't see them taking that sort of risk.

Tigers on the other hand...we've got a 'bonus' pick from Norf and took 8 x top-end picks in the strongest draft we've ever seen. With Duursma and likely CDT gone, Robey is a risk well worth taking - in fact I now regard the risk of NOT taking him being even bigger than taking him.

Not sure top 10

Pickett - KPF
Neocleous/Butler/Patterson - small fwds
Templeton/Knapp - small mids
Van Dyk - tall rangy mid
Van Hattum, van Rooyen, Houndsome, Herbert - rucks
Mellody- wing
Yeah definitely some dynamic types that will get more mid time next year, Malady another option if we want a redo on a Bison type

How about don’t split and take the best 2 available. Stop complicating things
This is professional sport.

You make logical decisions, not the simple decision because it's easier.

Geelong traded down 1 spot from Caddy to COS, and got a pick in the 30s for sliding back, that became Shaun Mannagh.

If we feel we can get a superior net outcome from 2 players than 1 we will split a pick.

Not sure why so many people on here are so against splitting picks lol.

If you can get a great deal you do it, if you don't, then you don't.

Take the player we want at 3, and if there's someone we want that's likely to be available later, trade down.

It's not outsmarting anyone, it's not a big scheme, it's a simple trade - 2 top talents that would likely fit a need better instead of 1 - exactly what you'd want in a long rebuild, address multiple areas of need which we have plenty.

Could end up with:
Robey - Pacey inside mid.
Dovaston - Goal sneak small forward.
Sam Grlj - Quick inside mid that would start at half back.

Address our lack of speed, need for elite small forward, and another running partner to pair up with Sam Banks.

Now it's just what looks better. If this does, we trade down, if not, we don't.

What North should've done last year. Trade down to get Tauru instead of FOS at 2, and then a Trainor, Shanahan, or Faul etc along with Tauru.

Key word is likely. If you keep pick 4, you’re not likely to get the player you want, you are guaranteed to get the player. Why on earth would you take that risk if you rate the player very highly?

Taking Robey early is a massive risk. It is terrifying in how it could backfire and exciting on how it could be a masterstroke. Relying on a 7 to 10 game patch of good footy hoping he is the next Bont. Not super quick, kicking can be iffy and unproven with endurance. Hard to justify taking him before more proven performers and just as exciting prospects like Hibbins-Hargreaves and Philipou. Really hope we don't fall for the hype and pick him only if we genuinely think he is the best option. If he doesn't end up testing at the combine, it should also count against him because not convinced on his small body of work that he is quick enough or has the endurance (all of which can be developed if he is close).
