Check out the 2024 Swans and 2018 Pies posters from him, and then put them side by side with the 2014 and '15 Hawks. They're identical, cookie cutter as you say.

I don't know why the artist needs to be locked-into legacy (i.e. how those posters have looked over the years). It's almost like the OG artist's lack of creativity/illustration skills (faulty gene) has propagated unnecessarily.

Just because Cats won, it doesn't mean CS showed all his cards. He just showed enough to affect the win.

CS is hard to coach against because he rings changes on the fly (cheats at cards!) and the team is empowered to do the same. Jezza in his latest presser, said that when JHenry and later Stewy went down, he contemplated going into defence. I think on-field leaders don't wait for explicit instructions (with the accompanying delay). I think they're adapting in-situ to stop the other team from having a run-on.

TBH I'm more interested in the news coming out of our Club about Henry.
We know two D's down would be diabolical, and a question mark on Stanley. Can we cope?

With Stewy out and Jack under a cloud, I would seriously consider Bews.
I think we can cover their tall forwards such as Rayner, resting Ruck and the two younglings with Jack, SDK, Guth, Sully and MOC.

Historically, we've always played pretty well without Tom Stewart in the lineup, paradoxical as that might seem.

I wonder what to make of that, and whether what we've seen in the past will be repeated this year or not.

Also, apparently Henry 'pinched a nerve' in his foot the other night. I can't imagine he'd be hampered at all this Saturday. It's not a structural injury, far as I know.

I wonder if the lack of certainty from the club around the issue is one of those Scott specials to keep the Brisbane coaches guessing as to what may transpire with selection.

Watching the teams before the PF, the Cats looked relaxed to me and the Hawks all keyed up.

That calmness starts with the captain, and I would always prefer that before a big game.

What this crap giving the Cat (who should be BLACK for ****'s sake) a tattoo? Sure some of our players have them like many in society, but he started that crap woth Collingwood and Richmond posters based off Swan and Martin.

I really miss the orignal WEG's work in our pop-culture, not just for VFL/AFL finals posters.

My mum worked for a magazine company that had some vague connection to News Ltd.

Has our success in the Qualifying Final tactically snookered us? We've shown all our cards now so the Lions will go in able to prepare for everything we did to them two and a half weeks ago. So from that perspective you'd almost think we're better served trying something different on Saturday....but then, if we did that, we'd be moving away from match-ups and tactics that we know work against Brisbane to match-ups and tactics that might be less optimal.

I have this horrible feeling that Mullin to McCluggage won't work this time.

We will be trying something different.
Stanley will be in the ruck and blitz.. well who knows what Scott is going to do with him. Defence? Forward?

This means nothing, but my eye in the QF Brisbane literally did try everything and had no answers at all for the pressure we applied.

Im not sure a few tactics from the lions can make up for 7-8 goals which was the difference in the QF.

Yes, most teams have flipped the QF result in the GF but from memory none of those teams got flogged in QF. They were close.

None of this guarantees anything of course, but I’d rather be in our position going into this game.
We need to hunt them.

I don't want to muck up Blitz's form in the ruck.

I'd leave him there and replace Stewart with Bews.

What form? He loses the ruck again and only had 12 disposals on the weekend.

At the game i thought he may have been near the bests. But the stats has confirmed my hunch wildly wrong. We need to look at stats more people. Our memories are bad at evaluating football games. Blicavs stats are more memorable cos his gangly movements make them more noticable thus we think he has had more influence then he actually has had. All of us fall for this same bias including me. But stats dont lie. Yes we smashed the clearances but that wasnt due to the ruckman as we werent winning the hit outs. Blicavs won 4 clearances which is good. But he only had 8 touches for the rest of the game. Even meek had more. Not saying his game was bad. It just wasnt nearly as good as everyone is making it out to be.

This week lions have two rucks. Plus we need an extra tall like stanley to drop foward if neale is having problems with andrews. Having an extra tall senior player to play in defence with stewart out will help too if the younger players like osullivan and dekonning get overawed by the occassion.

You’re right not ruck contests. Fort had 108 ruck contests to Blitz 61. 52 hitouts to fort 26 to blitz so pretty much even on averages.

Oh and blitz was one of the best on ground. 5 coaches votes. 20 touches and goal. Blitz was far better than Fort and anyone with 2 eyes and half a brain could see that

Geez Channel 7 shit me. Rather than just employing a better commentary line up so that we'd choose to watch their product, they just force it upon us.

I just don't think there's much room left in the sport these days for tap-ruckmen that can't do much else.

The general fitness level of players has negated the value of tap ruckmen. Even if they can put it down the throat of one of their players, that player is almost always staring down the barrel at a contest before they can dispose.

A player like Blicavs is more valuable than almost any ruckman in the league, purely because you can swing him forward, back, put him on the wing, tag someone, etc.

It doesn't matter if he loses the hitouts 2-1. He's good enough to negate the other ruckman being totally effective, then he spreads from the contest immediately, giving an out-number on the outside, where 95% of the game is being played.

It's very simple and obvious. It's wild to me that people are still backhanding Blitz haha

It’s just wild to me to that someone can sit there with a straight face and talk down Blitz’s last 2 games. Again vs Hawks he was 3rd highest rated player on ground, had most tackles and 6 coaches votes. It’s either biased hate or they just don’t understand football. To each their own.

Have a 2011 feel about this game/season.

I never pegged us as a flag chance midyear. I remember it being the same in 2011.

I'm guessing the game will be the same. An arm wrestle until 3/4 time before they run out of legs.

This team has been built on hard running. You have to be able to go with us for 4 quarters. They have brilliant footballers but not many amazing runners.

One got coaches votes & the other didn't

That gives a pretty good indication that the coaches at a minimum thought one off those players had a much bigger impact on the result than the other

You can't be serious.

Fort played as basically the sole ruck (27 centre bounces). Blitz was switching a lot with SDK (15 centre bounces as ruck each with 2 more for Blicavs as a mid).

Despite playing much less time around the ball Blicavs dominated him in virtually every important stat.

3-1 centre clearances.
6-4 clearances.
9-4 score involvements.
20-15 disposals.
1-0 goals.

He nullified Fort at hitouts. And killed him afterwards.
