Re: 'Alleged' rumours resurfacing ...

Folks, this is the way things are here.

Posters are responsible for what they post. Moderators can not attest to the accuracy or otherwise of any rumour posted.

Moderators will intervene for a couple of reasons.

1. If a thread is threatening to be derailed because of a post.

2. If invested parties request the removal of material.

None of this draws a conclusion as to the accuracy or otherwise of the original post.

There is no need to further speculate. What will be will be.

Also, you need to remember that this thread like all parts of this forum is bound by the rules of poster conduct. If you want to express skepticism towards a rumour that's fine, but having a crack at posters who are contributors to this forum is simply not on and will be acted upon.

Simply put, don't be a dick.

Thanks all!

Part of me wants Charlie gone, in a deal we come out on top. Let us take the proceeds and use them on adding some high end youth.

The other part wants to see Charlie back next year; stripped of VC title, no longer the face of junior memberships, ‘marketing allowance’ removed and assigned to someone else.
The managers Jedi mind tricks are working on you. Get people conditioned to the thought and then they start to convince themselves it’s all good. **** his manager and Charlie you can wear blue for another 4 years and like it.

Charlie is not 100% committed to success at this football club. Move him on. Also he should sack his pathetic manager.
Well if that's the case we should trade Harry, because he's in no rush to win premierships.

A source involved at another club (not involved in Charlie trade. Has nothing good to say about his management but his bottom line was:

D'Orazio will be run out of the AFL before Carlton takes unders for Charlie .. but that's exactly what he's sold other clubs on. Petracca isn't the first he's tried to do this with but Charlie will hopefully be the last.

I know it's good theater for the media for a bit.

But this has got to be burning a lot of bridges.

Guys whose name gets thrown up as bait start to worry about job security etc. Clubs who have to deal with all the BS. Guys not getting moves, other guys losing out on a move because the clubs spend too much time on this

Agent promising the world to everyone and not delivering.

Not saying it's all related because obviously the agency has multiple player agents but find it very interesting that Petracca left Connors Sports last year and now Dan Houston has this year.

He is an absolute disgrace.

Player managers have too much power. It's ridiculous. They facilitate players signing long term contracts and then play an active role in getting them to request a trade.

AFL clubs, for the most part, respect contracts and don't ship people off against their will. I don't think they can. Players can get paid out of their contract like O Brien but not just dumped without their consent

At the moment I want Charlie to stay and us stand firm unless we get a ridiculous offer no one would be prepared to offer.

A lot of talk about Ollie Florent on here. Probably some context needed.

Florent is 27 and was not in Swans best 22 for much of the year. I don't mind him as a player but he has another four years on his contract.

Four years.

What do you think we'd get for Jordan Boyd? He's contracted for another year. I like him but it's clear Voss doesn't. We'd give him away.

Swans are DESPERATE to move Florent's contract. He would be delisted if he was out of contract. He has no value in a trade. Ok footballer but four years is a long time if he spuds it up.

I would argue it's pretty clear Cox doesn't like him; much the same way you've said Voss doesn't like Boyd.

Florent was absolutely in the Swans best 22 under Longmire.

I'd suggest Florent would absolutely be in our best 22 if he comes in.

What these player managers and media types who make a living feeding off them (especially McClure, morris, beveridge and most of the other bottom feeders whose sources are all clearly these scum of the earth player agents) fail to realise is this is not the NBA or European football where clubs can trade or sell a player much much easier than they can here. Players have to agree to be traded as part of a deal, clubs have to want to deal … much less chance of these big trades happening compared to the rest of the world.

He's just not that good and he makes Hollands look physically imposing in comparison.

I know there is a difference between Employment Contracts and Commercial Contracts - but the general principle of “I changed my mind” is not a basic element of Contract Law - these cowboy Player Managers should really learn what a contract is all about.

If he stays he’ll need to pull his finger out, get over it and give it a crack.

But he’ll be starting from the naughty corner.

If a trade falls through - which is a pretty good chance - then Charlie cannot remain in a leadership position and he can’t be the face of the junior memberships and he shouldn’t get any of the additional funds allocated for player marketing.
Out of the leadership group for sure (prob shouldn’t have been in there to begin with).
Agree on the marketing pool drying up too.
As for Charlie’s Crew, slowly need to integrate a newbie into the role. Maybe EH if he sticks around..

I’ve been told he really wants out. Manager looking at all options based on Charlie’s request and prepared to take less money

Issue is if he doesn’t happen this year we could well be doing this again next year

It’s all about satisfying us with a deal that helps make us better. If we get picks they will be packaged with TDK pick for Top 3 pick or traded for players from other clubs plus Dean & Ison who we are very excited about to add to our youth

On this matter I really trust my source. Having said that MS3 may have better info. I don’t know and am not looking for argument or criticising his info. Just passing on what I’m told

Do we know if CC was on a heavily front-loaded payment scale?

Puts the pay cut into a bit more context, if so.

Though he does have other businesses and endorsements donating into the piggy bank.

Pity it wasn’t at the Brownlow Medal..

“A moment please. The following have been de-registered from AFL Player Management Accreditation…Rob D’Orazio…thank you, that is all”

D'Orazio was full of self importance prior to that Stan series "Show Me the Money" featuring player agents, once that aired, his arrogance went to a whole other level.

Yep. Any player agent that went on that show was unashamedly trying to enhance their own brand - instead they came off as cringey and desperate for the limelight themselves.

Robbie in particular…massive flog vibes

Just can't see a world where we are trading Curnow for high end picks in Voss's last year of his contract - especially when we've lost top talent like TDK & SOS. The coach (& list manager) need immediate impact otherwise their jobs are goneski.

No TDK, SOS, McGovern, Lemmey (delisted), HOF (injured) AND Curnow would leave us frightfully vulnerable in key position depth and height.

Any trade for mine HAS to involve either Jed Walter + a top pick or Errol Gulden. If they're categorically OFF the table then, we'll see you at pre-season Charlie.

C A R L T O N - F I R S T
I agree. But the Voss thing is irrelevant. If theyre leaving anyway, gonna have to do the best we can with what we have. Might as well bring it elite kids and secure our sons while we're at it.

Note I think the above is value pic wise, but not whay Id prefer.

More about what I think will happen if anything does.

Swans on a 7 year deal in a 3 club trade with WC netting us Pick 2, a Swans future 1st, Chesser, Dattoli and Florent. Our TDK compo also moves.
What on earth are West Coast getting in these deals? Doesn't seem like much.
Odd that there was no genuine interest in Motlop.
There seems to have been enough to force us into a 2 year deal.
I would argue it's pretty clear Cox doesn't like him; much the same way you've said Voss doesn't like Boyd.
Boyd has had ankle and foot issues for years. He built up his body more and more and now he can't run like he needs to be able to.

Clean kick, but doesn't seem to have much read for threading zones.

And yet again…… (question for Charlie and his management) what does Charlie Curnow being prepared to take less money have to do with Carlton? He can take whatever the hell paycut he wants, he’s not a free agent. He can play on $0 for the next four years and our club will still ask for multiple 1st rounders or a young gun player + more.
