It's a risk, bit far from a certainty. How we look also isn't a concern for me as long as we get the players we want. How it happens doesn't matter. The issue is more if we go ahead of a bid, and he still gets bid on before our pick, then we look beyond stupid
Clearly looking to sure up our depth. With Doc gone, possibly/probably Gov, then Saad, Newy, Haynes and maybe Williams only having a year or two in likelihood it becomes a necessity. Next wave of Acres, Cripps, Hewett and Pittonet under consideration, but largely planned/covered for already. We're in an interesting situation re cap space over the next couple of years.
With TDK, JSOS, Doch, Elijah, Gov and potentially Acres and Curnow we should have an absolute bucket load of cash free'd up for some trade targets.
Unfortunately with the new bid matching system and our F/S and NGA prospects we're quite hamstrung in who we can actually bring in over the next two off seasons in terms of having picks to trade with.
Butters, Bailey, McInerney and B.King the only real standouts in terms of RFA in 2026 which means if we miss on them we'd most likely be sitting on a mountain of cash for multiple seasons.
In some ways that could be a blessing in disguise as we'd be able to bank cap space and front end some deals with certain players, in another... We would be essentially wasting the final years of Cripps, Harry, Weiters and others primes.
Very interested to see how we approach things this off season.
I'm getting the distinct impression that GW's vision doesn't mix with Carlton's ability to carry it out.Lots of support for Buku around here.
Not good enough to get a game at the Bulldogs but good enough to get a game at Carlton...
Can't see Bukumate being happy as a backup Player which is why he wants to leave the Bulldogs.
I must be one of the few who thinks GW and Austin should do better.
If Buki ends up on our list ... no doubt we will be revisiting this decision in 2026.
What makes you say that?I'm getting the distinct impression that GW's vision doesn't mix with Carlton's ability to carry it out.

Chesser/Buku/Reidy types? Not getting much quality for 500k now.
SacKI'm getting the distinct impression that GW's vision doesn't mix with Carlton's ability to carry it out.
Since he said so in his early press comferencesSince when is he in the list management team?
Maybe.Chesser/Buku/Reidy types?
Go on. Do it. I dare ya.I know I'm about to cop 1000 red thumbs downs, but we should take Mason Cox as ruck/fwd depth and to stop him from having his best game against us every bloody year.
We will have a mint with all the players walking out the doorButters, Bailey and King will cost a mint, Mcinerney a realistic option, the cupboard is pretty bare free agency wise.
I'm not sure this strategy is right. This isn't a great draft and no clear standout players to be moving up. We could've got Murphy Reid and another player last draft with our two picks. Recruiting needs to be better.Watch us try and move up in this years draft like last year with Sydneys 1st along with our TDK compo
I understand your reasoning. However the top 3 or so will be very very good players. People can put down this draft but the top handful will be great players.I'm not sure this strategy is right. That will be it though. Cripps will be nearly retired with zero up and coming key forwards. That's a massive concern with Tasmania coming in. I think our list is in no man's land tbh and don't like the strategy at all.I understand your reasoning. However the top 3 or so will be very very good players. If the club add Jagga, Walker, HOF, Dean, Ison, the Campos, plus a few extra, plus a top 3 talent (this year) over the space of a 3 year period from the draft, I think the club would be very very happy with the outcome.
Only if we can on-trade one or more of those picks for a gun player.Hey fellas and ladies, in the hypothetical event that Curnow leaves, is this trade palatable for Blues posters?
CARL OUT: Curnow, 10
CARL IN: 2, 17, F1 (GCS), Chesser
*noting you’d either trade 17 for another F1 or split it again for Dean points.
Easier fix to the problem is that we all watch out for him & if we see him, go in for a big high five & “accidentally” poke him in the eyeI know I'm about to cop 1000 red thumbs downs, but we should take Mason Cox as ruck/fwd depth and to stop him from having his best game against us every bloody year.

Can you work your own F1 into that instead of GC?Hey fellas and ladies, in the hypothetical event that Curnow leaves, is this trade palatable for Blues posters?

Chuck in someone we can spend our 4-5 million of free cap space on and you might have a deal!Hey fellas and ladies, in the hypothetical event that Curnow leaves, is this trade palatable for Blues posters?

Which club is Curnow going to here?Is it that much? 2 gets Petracca and change, have a crack at Butters next year, 17 covers Dean points after sliding back and F1 along with your F1 probably covers Walker next year.
Overpaying is the issue, buying a player in an inflated market sets a precedent for the rest of the group and new recruits moving forward. We will have a mint with all the players walking out the door
