Rowell is literally the opposite.
Throws the ball more than the other player in the AFL, and gets away with it.
Hits umpires more than anyone and doesn't care.

They need to go back to calling out all the one votes first then the two votes etc . Then no one will know what games anyone got votes or didn’t get votes ends all the controversy. Umpires would be happy without the scrutiny.
That's exactly what the Brownlow medal is. Did you only just realise this?
Nobody cares about the AFL MVP. It's just players voting for their teammates.

A 'contested' ball isn't a ball inside a pack. That's a hard ball get.
A contested ball is simply collecting a ball neither side has possession of.
Clearances are awarded to the player who CD determines gets the last effective disposal away from a stoppage. It's not awarded tot he player who gets first hands on the ball to a teammate. It's usually that teammate that's in the open who passes it to a teammate who's further away who gets awarded the clearance.
He's a wonderful player but in raw clearances and midfield stats, especially around stoppages where the umpires focus on, he's far behind Rowell.
It's actually more impressive he polls so well, considering how much Brownlow voting favours inside mids.
He was a thug.

You’re missing my point. If it were named the unpires awards it would not attract the eyeballs that it does. It surprises me that so many still tune in to see the umpires opinions after whinging about them all year

I think it's fantastic (made even better by watching all the sooks complaining about it), but I would prefer it to be kept a bit shorter.

Nobody is entitled to a brownlow.
For some reason neither of them have played in a season where they outpoll the whole competition. They've both been top 5 multiple times so it's not as though they are getting zero votes while duds get heaps.

Don’t agree as blokes that get lippy to umpires can’t expect to get votes either - particularly if said player gets aggressive in their attitude!

I guess you watched every Port Adelaide game that year. Because I did, and the guy was an absolute beast l, in a team that won a lot of games. And had Travis Boak with 25 votes and 5 BOG taking votes off him as well

the bont that year was absolutely ridiculous, pure insanity that he didn’t win it, no offence to wines as obviously he was a great player that year but bont was so far ahead of everyone else.
I’d love to see a compilation of final series Mark/Goals that would have won Mark/Goal of the year if they were eligible. The contender's in both categories this year were pretty average and Elliot would have won MOTY hands down. Reckon Hipwood may have gone close to winning GOTY last year as well.
